Cats blew it against Virginia Tech in the 2008 season. The other years UC was undefeated in regular season, generally speaking you are to get a better opponent if you are undefeated.

Those teams generally aren’t good enough to get those level opponents.

UC definitely blew it's chance against VT so I can't complain there. Is it typical for the "worst" NY6 teams to be paired in the at-large bowls like peach/fiesta/cotton?

I don't think Kelly was ready for the orange bowl. He didn't call as dynamic of a ge on offense as he did all that year. Florida would have beaten anybody that day in New Orleans.

I still would have loved to seen the sugar bowl played without a skeleton coaching staff and players not boozing it up on Bourbon Street the night before. I don't blame them given what I heard from player parents i ran into about the bottom barrel practice preparation leading up to the game but as good as Florida was I just don't think that game was an accurate reflection of that uc team.

Not sure if it would have made much of a difference - the whole Florida team was pissed that they weren't playing for a national championship and they wanted to take it out on somebody. However it sure didn't help to not have a real coaching staff and our guys with hangovers. What was great was going in to one restaurant after another and hearing the UC cheers coming from everywhere.

Michigan doing what the B10 does against the SEC

27-3 with 1:38 left in the 1st half.

It’s basically an SEC world these days. The middle was down this year but the top is still worlds better than everyone. Bama and Georgia still do what they do and everyone else just hoped they get lucky against them.

RE: Bowl Season - bearcatmark - 12-31-2021 09:01 PM

I loved Georgia in this game. Michigan is basically a Georgia clone but worse in every facet.

UGA 34 Meechegan 3 midpoint of 4th

Worst performance.

The only B10 team that has the horses to compete with the top of the SEC is OSU, and not every year at that.

A UC-Michigan semifinal would've been interesting.

If a tree falls in a forest but nobody cares...well...you know...

I don't care about either team but Pitt was playing their 3rd string QB for the majority of the game.

UC was playing our 3rd or 4th string QB for most of 2008.

At the Louisville game that year, we were forced to call on 6th string QB Demetrius Jones for a few plays.

I'm just saying, injuries and opt-outs are part of the game. Excuses are not.

No excuse. When one team's third stringer is pressed into duty early in the game and the other team's first stringer plays the entire game it will have an impact most times on the outcome/score of the game.

The B10 sycophants I know can't deny the mounting evidence but refuse to admit their conference is at best a distant second to one south of the Mason-Dixon Line.

Notra Dahm loses a heartbreaker to Okie St 37-35. Irish were up 14 points at the half.

RE: Bowl Season - bcat1997 - 01-01-2022 06:41 PM

I wish we would have gotten Buckeyes this year.

RE: Bowl Season - doss2 - 01-01-2022 06:48 PM

UT v OSU is wild 35-21

2 minute left in half.

RE: Bowl Season - eroc - 01-01-2022 08:35 PM

osu takes the lead...vomit...

RE: Bowl Season - eroc - 01-01-2022 08:36 PM

And Utah's starting QB is probably concussed

RE: Bowl Season - BearcatMan - 01-01-2022 09:32 PM

Jaxon Smith-Njigba's last 5 games:

60 receptions
957 yards
6 TDs

Those would rank 48th, 43rd, and 51st nationally for the entire season...just Techmo Bowl numbers.

RE: Bowl Season - BearcatMan - 01-01-2022 09:37 PM

Matt Corral may have just made sure not a single highly rated NFL prospect plays in a bowl ever again. May be an Achilles injury from the look of it.

Playing against Baylor's offense is like getting into a pillow fight with an asthmatic...this is going to be a defensive battle.
