Lots of other big games on tap this holiday weekend.
Five that I’m watching are
K State 17 Texas 22 (yesterday)
Charlotte @ ODU 1pm CT
UTSA @ UNT 1pm CT
Houston @ Conn (11am CT)
Mass @ NMSU (2pm CT)
The first three give the last three teams who’ve defeated Rice (but aren’t bowl eligible) a chance to qualify.
UT is now 5-7 and currently in the clubhouse as the top provisional 5-7 team by APR.
Charlotte and UNT are both 5-6.

It will be interesting to see what happens to the CFP if Auburn beats Alabama. I'm sure the SEC is going to do its best to try to get 2 teams into the playoffs, but barring an Alabama win over Georgia, there is zero chance a 3-loss Alabama team gets in. And I doubt a 2-loss Ole Miss team will get in over Notre Dame, Ohio State, or the Big 12 champ.
If Michigan wins the Big 10 Championship game, I bet you they'll make the playoffs (along with Georgia and Cincinnati). If Bama isn't in, then the 4th spot will come down to Notre Dame or the Big 12 champ if it's a 1-loss team (Oklahoma or Oklahoma State). The poor SEC will be crushed if it's Georgia and 3 northern teams.
But Alabama could still come back. Houston could also throw a big monkey wrench into the playoffs.

Auburn's refusal to blitz gave Alabama an opening to exploit...and they did. Really questionable defensive play calling.
BTW, on that 3rd and 7 on Alabama's final drive, why wasn't an intentional grounding called on Young? He threw it going down to the turf without any receiver within 15 yards of the ball.

Yes, DLine was gassed. Precisely why they should have been blitzing. Give Bama the underneath passes as they need to score a TD to tie it up, and only 38 seconds on the clock. Just inexplicable play calling by the DC.

That was pretty much where they were anyway. They weren't going to get in as a 2-loss non-conference-champion.
Winner of Georgia-Alabama is in.
Cincinnati is in if they beat UH.
Michigan is in if they beat Iowa.
Oklahoma or Okie State is in if they win tonight and next week.
Any of those lose, it's probably ND.
After that, it's probably Oregon if they win the rematch with Utah, then maybe Iowa.
