What we as fans of football need to do - jaybird44 - 10-17-2021 09:26 AM

1.support our team
2.remeber where we have came from 1-11 in 2019, not playing in 2020 and having basically a start up team in 2021
3.give the team and coaching staff time to figure it out, but they need to pro-gress, not re-gress
4.get our tails to the games
5.quit talking of firing rahne, give me a break. Who you getting? The man will get it right
6.look, I hate losing too, but I bet coaches and players and administrators do as well, so we need to let this play out and we will know if he is the man, which I know he is. Got to give him a little time. He did not become a top assistant coach at freaking penn state because he didn't know anything about the game of football.
7.we probably will be moving to a new conference soon. We HAVE to support this team or we will always be getting new coaches and starting over all the time. Season after season of 1-11,2-10, and even 0-12's does not sound fun.
8.What I am diplomatically trying to tell you is that the Rahne train is leaving the station and granted it is moving slow, and to get to our destination, we have to hold on to our tickets and enjoy the ride. Ice cream and cake await us, fellow monarch fans.

I fully agree that we should stop the Fire Rahne talk (#5). But will he get it right? At this stage it is too early to tell. But if we are still having 1-11 seasons three years from now.....

First, I absolutely do not believe that will happen. Second, if it does, we will have already waited too long to make the coaching change. To be clear, I don't think there is even the slightest chance we will be facing that decision.

Jaybird, I like your enthusiasm; however, I just read 6 threads or so with your same comment on each one "show up to games." We got you the first time.

I was there, and most likely almost everyone who cares enough to be on this chat board and lives within a reasonable drive to the stadium.
But we hear you, brother. Keep cheering in person on game days at S.B. Ballard.

I hear you, I did do that. I read a person saying on this forum, saying the game looked boring. He had recorded the game. I get frustrated not seeing people there and then comment on the game. Negativity, man, we do not need it.

I am a Monarch, Class of 2012. I will always support ODU Sports, win or lose.

We have a football team that doesn't lack heart, passion or talent. They will be ok. The coaches will learn what works best and in team this will be a very competitive team.

However, I have to say this; If you are going to run the read option, you better have a QB1 that can run with the football. Otherwise the Defense knows that guy is not gonna pull and run. That is something that MOSDEF needs to change.

RE: What we as fans of football need to do - AimHigher - 10-31-2021 09:18 AM

Can ODU hire people with football knowledge to run the video boards? Why are they displaying get loud before a game winning kick and on our own offensive 3rd downs?

And coach and entire team telling the stadium to be quiet before Rice's field goals attempts at the end. Still baffles me.

Could there be some automation in play? I imagine new systems could be programmed to play x when condition y is met and its programmed to show get loud on 3rd downs but there's no logic for who has possession?

I was at the VT/Syracuse game a week ago. Their Audio/Video set up was top notch. It does impact the game and the fan experience. On a personal note, I HATE our music selection. If I hear YMCA one more time....

How bout some originality or a little edge? Let's find a way to stand out and not play it so safe.

And while I am on a roll. Why do we trot a team or civic group each timeout for recognition? A couple per game is fine but trotting out group after group is tedious. Why not have some student engagement activity....baseball bat spins, relay races, make someone catch punts...

Negativity done with. Just some suggestions. Thanks.
