That just makes no sense. A conference commissioner has bosses. The school presidents have the final say on whether or not a school is admitted and whether or not the commissioner can keep his/her job. The revenues are nearly equal and I don't think two or four teams moving from one to the other will significantly change a media deal. As I said in another thread G5 leagues ought to waive entry and exit fees for three months and see who applies where. They don't have any lost love for FAU, FIU, and North Texas either. It has been their sick fantasy to see those five schools want to better themselves in Conference USA. They feel the same way about Louisiana Tech too for rejecting the Slum Belch to stay in the WAC around 2005-ish. In other words you are a long time poster who created a new identity to troll in violation of the AUP. Typically the SBC schools want a college town atmosphere with good to great football tradition and preferably within the existing footprint to minimize travel and to hopefully build some rivalries.. This is why everyone at the SBC board is excited for Southern Miss, because they fit the description above to a T. The Florida schools are both great schools but almost the exact opposite of what we're looking for. It would he a bad idea for both parties if they were to join. MTSU and WKU would be a good fits but to many burned bridges for them to come back. The other schools in CUSA dont fit the profile and as such shouldn't be considered. JMU would be a better fit. Has all but admitted creating a new alias to troll by citing things purported to happen on the board years before joining. It’s an AUP violation not that anyone cares. RE: Killing CUSA - Possible and Likely?? - solohawks - 10-15-2021 03:18 PM With Thompson's statement today about the MWC considering expansion, it's looking more likely that CUSA will be down to 6 Hoping we get some movement soon so this can be sorted out My guesses based on what we think we know AAC - UAB, Charlotte, Rice, FAU AAC's Plan A was to get Big 12 schools AAC's Plan B was to get MWC schools AAC's Plan C is now replacment, status quo, and minimal damage UAB fills the Cincinnati slot Charlotte fills the UConn slot Rice fills the Houston slot FAU fills the UCF slot Not ideal but passable and the market driven AAC is pleased with 4 big market adds Sunbelt gets a Marshall and USM that fit in well with the culture of the league MWC gets into TX with N Texas and UTSA and to address the concerns of the Mountain schools and gets Boise in the CA based western division CUSA is left with ODU, WKU, MTSU, FIU, LA Tech, UTEP My best case scenario for CUSA at that point If MTSU/WKU want to stick around instead of trying to get into the MAC, then the CUSA can add JMU and MO St from FCS to get to 8 full time schools I would also add UConn and UMass for football only. Then, try to work out a deal with UTEP to get them as a football only member promising them no exit fees and their share of the exit fees from departing schools. If they can be the WAC #14, then replace them with Liberty as the FBS #8 all sports member That would give you a solid core of WKU, MTSU, JMU, Liberty, ODU with MO St. and LA Tech as travel partners your requisite Florida school with FIU and then UMASS, UCONN, UTEP, and NMSU as football only for 12 schools. If you have a solid core of WKU, MTSU, JMU, Liberty, ODU and can build off it, down the line I would approach UMass, VCU, St. Louis, and Dayton about coming on board to solidify the CUSA basketball brand. END GAME CUSA UMASS UConn/VCU ODU Liberty JMU FIU WKU MTSU MO ST LA Tech UTEP/St. Louis NMSU/Dayton RE: Killing CUSA - Possible and Likely?? - dbackjon - 10-15-2021 03:48 PM (10-15-2021 03:18 PM)solohawks Wrote: With Thompson's statement today about the MWC considering expansion, it's looking more likely that CUSA will be down to 6 All good until the A-10 raid part RE: Killing CUSA - Possible and Likely?? - b0ndsj0ns - 10-15-2021 03:57 PM (10-15-2021 03:18 PM)solohawks Wrote: If you have a solid core of I'm like 99% certain at this point the A10 schools would tell the AAC to pound sand, they aren't even answering a phone call from C-USA. If ODU got a solid eastern core established with JMU in it, I think VCU would at least take the call. You only need one to get dominoes going. It will basically be UMass cherrypicking who they want to join with them so they could be all sports conference in CUSA RE: Killing CUSA - Possible and Likely?? - BruceMcF - 10-15-2021 05:38 PM (10-15-2021 03:18 PM)solohawks Wrote: With Thompson's statement today about the MWC considering expansion, it's looking more likely that CUSA will be down to 6 ...
