Where you there? Then how would you know? You can't see the concession lines that were 30 deep with 4 lines at each one. You cant see the concourse that was 10 or 15 deep and lined up all around the stadium. Or restrooms that had people standing 4 deep and a line around the building at each one

You were not there so you must believe it if a fan was at the game and said the above added up to the other 15k

You probably wont get that unless you read last weeks thread so maybe I should add a 03-lmfao

Southern Miss looked like they could have fit everyone on the visiting side into seats on the lower home side. The top on both sides didnt look like there were 2k combined...

my guess more like 15k tops around the end of first half

Why exactly do you care so much about UAB’s attendance?

Why exactly do you care so much what I say about UAB's attendance?

We don't. We only post tickets scanned.

Until the NCAA requirement year comes up. I bet then it will be tickets sold because you have to maintain at least 15k average.

AD purchases enough tickets to keep us compliant. We don't lie to the world about how many butts are in the seats though.

Hard to lie when you play in a high school stadium.

The NCAA has never once enforced this rule, and they never will.

I would imagine this is exactly the reason why. In a smaller stadium you can't pretend everyone who bought a ticket showed up. That said, the more important figure in the long term is who is paying to see your games. If they choose to skip some or watch from home that's on them.

I don't know what ticket sales were but can any Southern Miss fan say there were honestly more than 15K there at any point during the game?

No idea how many were there. We report tickets sold, like 95% of schools do. Your AD chooses to make you look bad. No need to get sore at everyone else.

It's really important.

I agree 100%. If they bought a ticket, that's the most important part in the grand scheme of things.

RE: Week Six Attendance - THUNDERStruck73 - 10-11-2021 09:29 AM

I would much rather play in a smaller stadium and fill it up. When Marshall was being courted by CUSA, the conference required a 37,000 stadium (from my source on other things). This is the reason we expanded to the odd duck number of 38,000.

30000 would have been plenty. It would look so much better on tv. My source also said that there was a plan to place a two story bar in the end zone and leave the lower bowl seats. Incorporate the end zone seating with the bar.

As you can tell, this was shot down.

RE: Week Six Attendance - Engblazr - 10-11-2021 09:38 AM

What is it with WKU fans in particular getting so upset and angry about other schools?

Them, FIU and Charlotte all complain. The funny part is those are 3 of the 4 smallest stadiums in conference.

We just like to be angry, its our default state. Comes with being stuck in a state with UK and UofL fans I think.

Or arrive late, or leave early, or go to the bathroom or go for a hot dog, or any of the other reasons they may not be in their their seats at the moment the camera pans the crowd.

Wrong, again...

S. Miss is not selling 26,000 tickets and Marshall is not selling 25,000 tickets and UAB is not selling 25,000 tickets. Your AD is making up numbers for the box scores.

Unless no students are showing up and for S. Miss and UAB 60% of those who bought a ticket are not showing up. Which seems very unlikely since Marshall most likely has the highest amount for season tickets sold .

The highest I found for that was around 10k and the Marshall average was around 8500. With a new coach I would guess that number might have went up. But going by post on THIS board...Marshall pissed off a bunch of season ticket holders by charging more for their same seat location.

Western's average is 7500 on season tickets with a high of 8500 and this years total was running slightly ahead of the average.

If S. Miss averages 8,000 in season tickets sold and they sold 26,000 tickets for this game. Thousands of people who bought walk up/on line tickets did not show up for the game.

UAB reported 24,726 average for 2019 and they sold a total of $1,592,015 in tickets sold and that includes UAB basketball (S. Miss sold $137,269 for Men basketball so you can assume UAB tripled that) and all other tickets sold....

7000 in season tickets at $25 (on average) a game is $1,050,000

Marshall might come the closes to reporting tickets sold but not everyone list their box score attendance numbers as "tickets sold"

Case in point as I posted the copy of the actually doc's UTSA sent to the NCAA . Not the exact numbers because its been a couple years...

UTSA reported attendance around 22k and turned in doc's to the NCAA of actually tickets sold around 13k

Our max attendance in the actual seats always seems to be midway through the 2nd quarter. Even then we have a huge concourse from which you can see the game as well so it also makes it look emptier than most.

I do wish we had just made two sideline grandstands with a few extra seats and not had the endzone seating. No one wants to sit there and unless we sell out no one does. Better to have a grassy endzone where folks can spread out a blanket if they want.

Dumbest post ever goes to you. Why would an AD buy up tickets unless they are trying to meet the 15k minimum? I’m sorry but no athletic department is buying up random tickets just for the sake of a number. To get to 15k sure. Anything over that is just dumb.

I'm more of a fact based person and dont live in make believe land. If UAB fans want to believe 15,000 fans watched this game from the restroom, concession stands and concourse. Go for it! Believe it all you want, along with the tooth fairy.

You are a Middle fan and reported 16 or 17k for a championship game played between two schools 2.5 hours apart. Then a reporter did a open records search on MTSU......

actual attendance was around 5,000 for a championship game played between two schools that you could eat breakfast at home and be back home to eat dinner

RE: Week Six Attendance - HiddenDragon - 10-11-2021 10:06 AM

For the UAB posters that get irritated with the attendance smack talk from other conference members, in two more years you'll not have to worry about it anymore. Amazingly, AAC posters don't dwell too much on attendance. At least not to the extent that CUSA posters do....lol.

Further proving my point lol. I guess when on field success isn’t great and they don’t frequent the conference champ game, they have to find ways to “compete” with the big boys. Nobody in CUSA can brag about good attendance. It’s all trash. It’s also not like UAB is shooting fireworks and flashing attendance on the (one of the nations 5 largest) jumbotron to brag. It is quietly released and you have to go look it up to find it. I’d find all the hate justified if UAB Athletics Department was like “hey!!! Look!!!! We have so many more fans at games than you!!!” But dang it just makes you guys look bitter and jealous
