UT Marketing Fail - inductchuck16 - 10-07-2021 03:54 PM

Well, about as bad as the promotional t-shirts vs. BYU that were the exact same blue color as BYU, not Toledo blue...our marketing team has outdone themselves again!

This time, they've decided that we will be having a BLACKOUT game versus a team who literally dons BLACK as one of its primary colors (Oct. 16 vs. WMU). I mean come on, this just seems so bush-league to me.

Midnight blue & gold...it's not that hard. Wanna go black? Go black against say, EMU?? Our last blackout game, we were shellshocked by Ball State last year.

And wear something cool at home... know not to do it in a big game. Ball State last year. Miami in 2018. NIU in 2013.

Yep—perfect opportunity to do something around the theme of “midnight” instead of a stale “blackout” or “whiteout”, and use midnight blue for the shirts, which are dark enough to still give the same effect but actually be school colors.

Hey, at least they are making shirts available…remember the days when they just expected that everyone would show up in the chosen color?

Projected mid 70s with a southerly wind and a noon game, I think I might give black a pass. I about cooked that last game in gold.

Just saw a new UT commercial yesterday. Featured a high school track star looking for a college and the voice-over said UT was the place to go. One problem - UT doesn't have a men's track team.

Thanks RF. I’ll likely bring myself to attend the WMU game unless the weather sucks (after today I’m officially a fair weather fan until Candle is gone). Mercifully, Mrs. Ranger will be out of town for the WMU game enjoying a week in Mrytle Beach with her sister. It was really good to see a lot of the old gang today, unfortunately the results in the Glass Bowl sucked.

Indeed. Two home losses in a row, and next up Central is gonna likely kick the crap out of this team (much more physical & meaner that we are)…will there even be 10,000 fans in the stands for that WMU game?

I thought the exact same thing when I saw being advertised at the game.
I said to myself how can someone be that stupid?
