Starting time! - EMUGLORYDAYSthe90's - 09-14-2021 12:31 PM
September 25th versus Texas State starting time is at 2 o'clock, I believe Michigan has a home game the same day at 3 or 3:30! Why can't we schedule a night game at 7 or 7:30 similar to Toledo? This will affect the turnout possible! Even A noon kickoff would be better! What's your opinion? Thanks! Go Eagles!

I would have preferred a noon kick but ive got a childs birthday party to attend after then a gig at night so im selfish

I don't know how the game time was chosen, BUT ESPN can set the time if they wish.
ESPN usually uses noon, 3:30, 7 p.m windows for TV games but sometimes has other times like 2 p.m. scattered in for non Tv games. My GUESS is that noon, 3:30, 7, etc. are network slots. ESPN3 and ESPN+ can 'stand alone' as streaming games. They don't have hard slots like ESPN/2/U. ESPN doesn't want to cut off the end of one or miss the start of the next game so they have 3 1/2 hours before games on TV.
I was once told, "If ESPN says we are to play at midnight, we'll play at midnight."
Why? An analogy: "Dad hires a band to play at daughter's wedding. Band plays what dad wants the band to play."

Even Nick Saban complained a few seasons ago about having to play early in the season at noon in the Alabama heat. Paul Finebaum, a Saban fan, stated "well Nick if you want to play in prime time perhaps you need to schedule a more compelling matchup than Arkansas St."
Glory Days makes a great argument but at the end of the day, TV execs have more authority over game times than athletic directors and coaches.

Hmmmmmmmmmm. Lot of 2 p.m. games. All of these MAC teams want to play at 2? Not hardly.
And if one needs a better example: NFL.
Some of us who use 'Just For Men' on our mustaches, may remember when the Baltimore Colts played games at 2 p.m. on Sundays.
I believe other teams also started later to not interfere with Sunday services.
As TV became the 800 lb gorilla, games moved to 1 p.m. league wide so that a doubleheader game could start at the anointed hour. Starting games at 1:30 or 2 p.m. would cause all kind of run over issues.
