The player is coached by former Covington coach Marty Wheeler. Read the Chattanooga article in the above post. If Coach Wheeler is that high on him, he has to be a good player.

Memphis got in on him early and recognized the skill set. This kid is definitely under ranked and is probably a good thing for now.

I like that we find these Diamonds in the rough
As long as you get get good, solid evaluations of a player then diamonds in the rough are ok. Its a bit of a gamble. It would nice to get guys where talent is not in question. Of course that is hard to do in SEC country. Tic Price used to recruit with the diamonds in the rough philosophy. Sometimes he hit correctly and others times not.

Recruiting sites overlook players sometimes. IN 2020 Thomas snagged 45 receptions for 1,224 yards and 18 touchdowns. Additionally, he was responsible for 14 tackles, 9 pass breakups, and 7 interceptions. He earned All-State Defensive Athlete and All-Region Receiver honors last year despite his team finishing 5-5. The best part is Memphis is stealing one right from UTK's backyard. The only problem for Memphis will be in what position he should be playing with his 4.48 time in the forty.

I am willing to bet Thomas becomes a 3-star player when he gets evaluated.

UTK's classes:
2022 = 0-5's, 2-4's, 12-3's
2021 = 0-5's, 6-4's, 11-3's
2020 = 0-5's, 13-4's, 9-3's
Someone needs to show dem boyz how to count stars, if they think they're getting all 4's and 5's.
