Just saw NIU odds to win the MAC on sportsbook.ag at 100-1. Do we really suck that bad, or is that line too good to be true? When did the MAC become the SEC?

We went 0-6 last year lol. I think they’ll be much better and I wouldn’t have their odds that low but…..yeah.

There's value, IMO. Obviously still a slim chance they'll win the conference but talent-wise it seems more possible than the odds suggest. I think there are probably futures odds/week 1 lines that are wayyyy off all across college football. Oddsmakers have way less to base off after last season's mess. Tons of returning super seniors, teams who dealt with covid, etc. I'll be taking some dogs with the points week 1 for sure.

NIU will better but how much better is the great mystery. I keep saying the Wyoming game will set the tone for the season as I do not expect a win at Georgia Tech. If NIU loses to Wyoming you could be looking at a 9 game losing streak before Maine comes to town... With that type of start you probably also open the season 1 - 5 as Hammock has yet to beat EMU and Toledo is always a tough draw.
It will be a struggle to make a bowl game and the rhetoric will be something like team matured the second half of the season and will be poised to take another step next year. That is where I am putting my money down for this season. Getting to six wins and making a bowl seems like a reasonable ceiling.

That 0-6 is a little misleading as they were right in many of those losses. They need to learn how to makes those losses wins. It might just take one big win to get their confidence and execution to meet their talent. It’s a long shot obviously to win the MACC, but the pieces are kind of there if things fall exactly right.

The best odds to win the MAC are Toledo 9-4, Ball St 7-2, and Western Michigan 5-1. So all the good teams in our division according to the oddsmakers. But are we really 100-1 and that much worse on paper compared to those 3 teams? That’s really tough for me to believe

Central will be especially tough with Sirmon at QB.
I think ND will be a top 5 with Jack Coan as the starter
at QB. The MAC goes through Muncie this year. Ohio has been a tough out for UT recently. I expect that in many ways it still is Solich's Bobcats. WMU will be in the fight and I expected NIU to be improved. If you still want to play 10 yards off Rocket receivers it's ok by me.

Sad to see NIU as an afterthought, not even in the discussion.
Hopefully this "rebuild" will pay off and we'll be back to the 10's NIU dominating the MAC and winning P5 games again.

This team has a HUGE chip on their shoulder. Don’t think they’re not fully aware of the pundits and completely pissed off about being picked last in the division. I just get this feeling the dogs will be unleashed for the Wyoming game after a tough loss to GT.

Also is Bovada. Signed up long time ago, rarely use is and haven't cashed our in forever. They do have 150-1 NIU to win division. Although it says I bet "Northern Illionis."
