CMU Offers Michigan DL - BeatWestern! - 08-02-2021 10:50 AM

Defensive lineman Davonte Miles (6-5, 275) of River Rouge (Mich.) High School announced yesterday via Twitter he was re-offered a scholarship by Central Michigan.

A consensus 3-star recruit rated among the top 25 prospects in the state of Michigan's 2022 class, Miles received the first of his 17 scholarship offers from the Chippewas on Jan. 23, 2020. His other offers included Michigan State, Minnesota, Indiana, Syracuse, Pitt, West Virginia and Michigan, where he originally committed on Dec. 18, 2020, before decommitting from the Wolverines on July 29.

Since decommitting from Michigan last week, Miles reports being re-offered by CMU, Indiana and Toledo, while receiving a new offer from Miami (Oh.).

The Chippewas are looking to add a defensive lineman in their 2022 recruiting class and have also offered Wesley King (6-5, 270) of Appleton (Wisc.) North High School.

FIRE UP CHIPS! :)

He certainly has a lot of interest and quite a few P5 offers.

Any idea as to why he decommitted from the Wolverines? (not that I blame him. 03-lmfao)

Odds on CMU actually have a chance to add him as a commit?

What are the odds that CMU will land either King or Miles? -
I think either would be a score.
What's up with re-offers? I understand re-offering Miles but seems like the guys who already verbaled got re-offered too.

Those edits to the verbal commits are the official scholarship offers effective on Aug. 1, over and above just a verbal scholarship offer.

King is definitely in the mix, but I'm not sure how committable his offer is now if there's a chance for Miles, who, OBTW, you notice did receive an official scholarship offer yesterday.

Thanks for the clarification on the re-offers. I previously didn't understand that at all.

It's also becoming clear why players are committing earlier, their offer may be gone if they take too long to make up their mind.
CMU must have about 5 or 6 spots left ?
I like this class so far and it will be interesting to see who else will round it out.

Miles' "re-offer" is a new CMU offer for him since he decommitted from Michigan on July 29.

The Chippewas initial offer to Miles was on Jan. 23, 2020, his first FBS offer.
