The likely resurgence of covid-19 this fall (Delta variant) - TIGERCITY - 07-21-2021 07:33 AM

For those interested a short video describing the Delta variant. This guy is a very good explainer, medical school professor, writer for the MCAT, and clinician.

Why we are likely to see a resurgence in certain sections of the country this fall.

Luckily, as with all viruses, it has evolved into keeping the host from dying. This variant is anywhere from 1/10th to 1/20th as deadly. Remember Spanish Flu just went away after about 20 months. Pretty sure people still get it, but it is just another Flu bug.

you'll see it because the Dems need it to allow mail in ballots that enable cheating

The media is going to monetize this for as long as they can.

Nearly 40% of new COVID patients were vaccinated - compared to just 1% who had been infected previously.

With a total of 835,792 Israelis known to have recovered from the virus, the 72 instances of reinfection amount to 0.0086% of people who were already infected with COVID.

By contrast, Israelis who were vaccinated were 6.72 times more likely to get infected after the shot than after natural infection, with over 3,000 of the 5,193,499, or 0.0578%, of Israelis who were vaccinated getting infected in the latest wave.

I don't think that's the case at least according to the study cited. Check out the video at about the 4:10 mark. After controlling for variables the Delta variant looks like it's about 1.8 times more likely to put you in the hospital.

My girlfriend is HR at a company in Tulsa with 170 employees. They had an outbreak about 2 weeks ago. Everyone had to be tested. Of the 170...31 had Covid.

Of the 31...14 of those had been fully vaccinated.

It's impossible not to be highly skeptical of this entire thing, especially with the newest variant, for several reasons. There's just too much contradictory information at this point.

1. Isn't it convenient that the "deadliest" version of this virus to date comes on the heels of the pedophile at the podium telling us that we need to follow orders before being given freedoms back? On top of that, after him telling us we better get the shot, the administration fell well short of their goal.

2. Yes, hospitalizations are up. So are people traveling in record numbers (forced lockdowns tend to cause a lot of cabin fever). Notice that one thing not discussed now is exact details of why? The media and CDC just make vague statements like "it's all unvaccinated people, it's young men, etc." They are not showing nearly the same granularity in detail they once did, such as race, age groups, co-morbidities, etc. It was never clearly detailed, but now even more so.

3. One mask, two mask, three mask, no mask? Farse-y has flip flopped on this more times than LeBron. What ever happened to his own email to a colleague acknowledging that face diapers are pretty much non-effective, yet now they're being pushed again. That makes no sense at all, yet here we are.

4. Anecdotal evidence such as what oru states or what my colleagues have reported in their personal lives or places of employment stating that a good number of those with the new and improved Wuflu already got the shot, yet some hospitals such as a local one in my area saying 98% of cases are "unvaccinated." Who you do you believe, those with a vested interest in keeping a narrative up or people experiencing it first-hand?

5. The ever-shifting narrative. Did we flatten the curve? Is grandma still dying (if Delta is so dangerous, why is the CNN death tracker not back up)? Is every other type of death still at an all-time low because we're not reporting it? Are the morgues filling up again? What's the narrative this week?

Also I want to say one more thing. Sure it makes sense that the pressure on a viruses, in general, is to transmit and not become more virulent (harmful). That is you don't want to kill your host or get him so sick they're not around other people. The Delta variant didn't grow up that way. Originating in India and in dense Urban environments it could transmit from host to host with a little time in between. So the pressure to become less virulent just wasn't there under those conditions. In fact it appears we're seeing not only a more transmissible but *also* one more likely to put you in the hospital. This is because it replicates faster once you're infected -- you have a higher viral load quicker. This means it's both more transmissible, because of the higher viral load, and also much more likely to make you sick enough for hospitalization since there's more chance for the virus reproduce in your body prior to your immune system responding adequately. in short, it reproduces faster after initial infection. That's why we see both higher infectivity And more serious disease with the Delta variant.

The fully vaccinated part shouldn't be a surprise to anyone. Of course, the media is making a big deal out of "breakthrough" cases, but in reality, that's just to get viewers.

Yeah. That was my point. I've heard (media reports and politicians) them say for weeks, that getting vaccinated is the key. And, that less than 1% of vaccinated people get Covid. PURE BS!

Deaths from Covid have been cut in half each of the last two months in the US. May-14,000+, June-7,000+, July so far about 2,000. We have learned how to treat it now that Trump is out of office and the treatments he was flauting are being used.

Well, it does seem to be the key to not getting seriously ill and winding up on a respirator. The vast majority of cases now are the unvaccinated. There will always be some vaccinated that still catch COVID but those numbers will dwarf the totals. I do believe those in charge should emphasize more that the vaccine isn't a cure, just a tool to prevent serious illness.
