The entertaining part was the fact it took me this long to figure it out. The rest is by no means a funny topic. It's very serious. And I don't feel the term "woke" is being sarcastic at all. It's very much predatory dog whistle to those who don't know better in order to brainwash them into believing there is something somehow evil about the intent CRT.

A child with cancer is serious. China controlling our illegitimate government serious. A dimwit bigot like you having an awakening about the term woke and dog whistles are just mindless naval gazing by a low iq, low testosterone loser.

Just frick off and take your critical race theory with you.

I can honestly say as a white guy growing up in the 70's and 80's, I was constantly being taught both directly and indirectly that there's something "superior" about being white over black.

Sounds like you had sorry parents.

or, he is flat-out lying. This is a cut-and-paste from Reddit probably.

Nobody talks like this.

I was just being honest. If you're white and you grew up in the Memphis area, you know exactly what I'm talking about. Just the extreme racial polarization in the voting is enough to prove I'm telling the truth. My parents are actually from the north and very much not the white superiority type. What I'm talking about is mainly just the lingo and subtle hints. You just go along with it because it's the way of life. Just like most went along with slavery back in the day because it was the way of life whether you supported it or not.

Example(s)?

I can honestly say as a white guy growing up in the 70’s and 80’s, I met about 3 or 4 people who ever uttered white-supremacist ideas or concepts in my presence. The experience was so rare — and frankly, weird — that I am still able to remember the faces and voices of the people who said these things, although their names are long forgotten.

Quote:OF COURSE that still goes on. I know it for a fact because I "feel" it whenever I get around the Trump-types.
I totally believe that.

I'm not talking KKK, racial-war white supremacy. Just a general feeling of yeah sure, they are part of society, but they are somehow inferior.

I can even give an example of feeling it in school. The biggest confused moment I had in schooling in the south was being taught about the Civil War. They made a HUGE effort to say it wasn't really about slavery as much as the economy. That ALWAYS raised BS flags in me. OF COURSE it was about slavery. That drove all the other issues, not the other way around. Now today I FINALLY figured out why they taught it that way. Like if we're taught to believe it wasn't about slavery, then slavery must not have been so bad. Right? They taught it that way to feel better about themselves and their history, while effectively hiding the truth. I only briefly went to school in the north. Would have loved to have known how it was taught up there.

Cause they lied to you!!! I was taught from a very young age that my success or failure was determined by the choices I made, the education I obtained, and the effort I put forth. It's really a pretty simple concept.

Again it wasn't like they convinced me. I always knew better. But it was more like they all had to be convinced. Not me. I just went along with it in name only because I'd feel out of place if I didn't go along with the crowd. Just like 99% of the crowd is doing.

And THAT is the problem CRT is trying to solve.

What a beta-sheep.

Who else did you just “go along” with? Your wife’s boyfriend?

“Slavery must not have been so bad”…

For FS, really? Can you point to ANYONE who would endorse your idea that slavery “wasn’t that bad”?

Anyone?

Betcha can’t.

Previously I had heard Trump awkwardly use this new dog whistle during his first rally as ex-president about a month ago. Sounded like he didn't even know what it meant. But it seemed to excite the crowd, so he used it.

Then tonight my tv accidentally got left on Newsmax. They were using the "woke" dog whistle every other sentence. So much so I could get a "fix" on a definition. It basically means anyone fighting against structural white superiority in society. You'd naturally think this is a good thing. But obviously not to a white supremacist. That's why they made the dog whistle to ridicule the idea, trying to brainwash people into believing somehow there isn't structural white superiority in society. 03-lmfao I mean how can there be if anyone who thinks so is demonized as "woke".. which conjures the image of a wookie. 03-lmfao

You must have lived a very sheltered life and your friends the same. All with racist parents.

I'm not going to go off on you and say you are wrong because the 70s there were still people who believed like your parents and friends influence you. When I saw it it was mostly rich preppy kids. Of course there were dumb poor kids also.

I was born 1960 and met a black kid for the first time in 1965. When I say met that means spent time playing. Its when I joined the Boys Club and the makeup was around 35-65 black and white.

I dont remember any separations when picking sides on any games we played. Of course the first couple picks were your closes friends..no matter if the boy was black or white doing the picking. The teams always seem to end in a mix of skin tones. By the time I was 10 or 12 ('70-'72) it seemed like the best at what we were playing were picked first...skin color did not matter.

When we went camping or swimming the groups were always a mixture of black and white mostly along the % of each because everyone couldn't go. There was no white or black side of the bus, swimming pool or tent .

1972 age 12 was the first year a black person attended my school. At first the reaction was not great and you would hear about what you would expect for those times. I would say with in 3 years and the time I went to Jr High...

most of that was gone but still pockets, like I said mostly rich snobby ********. But that wasnt just towards blacks but also the poor white kids that were not in their click.

By the time I was a Jr in High school 1977...those things I heard in grade school and Jr High were just about gone. There were those small pockets that were just idiots that had parents that were flat-out racist. I believe that number has dropped by half for every ten years since then and today its probably less than 1/3 of 1% of white people in America.

On the other end I believe the number to be at the very least 25% of black people are flat-out racist today.

BTW from the time I notice people that thought they were superior to others....

race wasnt the factor in that thought. Social standing was a bigger factor. So like I said I wont call you an idiot on what you thought. But your parents and your friends parents...were flat-out idiot racist. Most people was not raised like that and that number dropped to next to nothing (going by sheer numbers) by the late 80s

RE: The "WOKE" dog whistle - olliebaba - 07-17-2021 05:38 PM

It seems to me that the "woke" person is trying to convince us that he's not "woke." The fact is that he abhors that label and as such is trying to convince us that the same CRT ideologue is tame. That's bullSchiff and he knows it. He's like Whoopie Goldberg who bashes Whites and then tells us that it's the Whites that are racist. Man, she not only is an ugly person outside, she's as ugly and hateful inside.

So, let's say that the "Woke" Liberal is a closet Supremacist and that Trump supporters are the really White Supremacists, where does that leave us minority Trump supporters. As a minority I've witnessed discrimination but I didn't blame every Anglo person because of a few that hated Mexicans. You would see some racism but I'll tell you something, we didn't just cry about it like the "Woke" idiots that try to brainwash US. We threw it back at those people that tried to belittle us and that's where the difference was, we took it and gave it back. This little man wants to "teach" us that because we support Trump we should listen to him because "he" knows better. When I read his thread in my mind I kept imagining him as that guy in the movie "The Graduate" and that he comes from the same background. All his friends and his parents friends were lily white and were segregated in their own little world. But now, he feels guilt and wants to make up for it by lecturing us because "he" has seen the light of his "whiteness and feelings of superiority".

Don't cry for us Argentina, we know where we fall and it would do wonders for you to realize that the problems that "YOU" have aren't our problems. We support Trump because of various reason, I support him because he cares about our nation and truly wants to make it great again, versus the New Demoncraptic Socialist Party who want to make us into a Cuba and have all the power for themselves.

PS. I would enjoin the thread starter to read Psalm 1:1 and that would be his answer of why we don't join his cause.

If I didn’t know better I’d swear you grew up in same town in East Texas that I did. I was that poor dumb white kid who grew up without a Dad because he left my brother and myself when we were infants. In case you don’t remember people were very judgmental of kids without dad in this time frame. We grew up on the wrong side of the tracks by the blacks. Growing up in that time frame nearly all Blacks had Dads in their homes. Some Blacks had businesses. All of that would change when the welfare checks started coming. I remember a black preacher constantly saying all it’s doing was giving deadbeats a pass on responsibility. His wisdom is still being played out today.

There was a feeling of Superiority as you stated. It wasn’t along racial lines as Scorpios fantasizes about. I would know better than most I had a lot close black friends as well as white. But none us had the RIGHT LAST NAME that meant privilege in our small town. Privilege was money and last name of the wealthy white snobs. I could understand if you are confusing this in your thought process because this was real when I was growing up. Funny thing is when I go back there a lot them still act like this even though I have far surpassed their wealth. It’s comical now as it means little like it did.

Also, in that time frame that’s all that lived in our town whites and Blacks and no other race not even Hispanics. I was that kid that was always fist fighting and getting paddle pops. If I had told my mother or Grandpa I would have gotten more belt pops so I never told them. First fight was 7 all the way to 16. Fights were 90% because of the things other kids said about me and my situation. Blacks would chicken fight other white kids. That means more than one against a white kid. They wouldn’t me because I knew most of their Dads and if I told one of them their son wouldn’t fight me one on one because he was a coward then they would make their son fight me. They believed their son would win because he was better than me. No way would a Black Dad let them chicken fight because pride was on the line and I knew it. So, the blacks would fight me one on one. I didn’t win every fight but 8 of 10 for sure.

It wasn’t until I was 16 that a close black friend said something off color to me that I finally realized I didn’t need to fist fight everyone. I confronted him about what he said and he apologized telling me that was his dad talking. The point of it was these kids were sounding boards of adults all those years but being a dumb kid also I had no idea and took it as a personal attack. I truly believe people like Scorpios who either never have had close black friends or grew up in an environment where they weren’t just AT SCHOOL but part of your life everyday do not understand that Racism isn’t a special gift to white people only. Al Sharpton is a Bigot through and through and I’m sure he’d met my fists as a kid. There are Racists that are Black overt and subtle. I could write a book on Racist events I’ve experienced. A black mom wouldn’t talk to her daughter for years because she married a white guy. There were white racists that promoted their club of hate but they were small and most ignored them.

Scorpios I’ll tell you exactly what I told my black friends in college when they told some whites didn’t like them. THAT’S THEIR PROBLEM NOT YOURS AND IF YOU LET IT BECOME YOURS THEN IT DEFINES YOU AS A PERSON. Trust me it’s not a good look and it will handicap you in life. I think rising above where I came from qualifies me more than most on this subject. Jesus said it best there is crown of life for those who overcome the world. He has blessed me richly through hard work and perseverance. No hand out or white privilege ever lived within me. Character over color it’s not really that hard and anything else is a lie.

I think rising above where I came from qualifies me more than most on this subject. Jesus said it best there is crown of life for those who overcome the world. He has blessed me richly through hard work and perseverance. No hand out or white privilege ever lived within me. Character over color it’s not really that hard and anything else is a lie.

I finally figured out what "woke" means. Up until now it sounded like something to do with Star Wars and the "wookie". Why did the far-right all of a sudden have so much of a wookie fascination to turn it into a dog whistle?!

03-lmfao

Does this go back to the whole "critical race theory" idea? I can honestly say as a white guy growing up in the 70's and 80's, I was constantly being taught both directly and indirectly that there's something "superior" about being white over black. OF COURSE that still goes on. I know it for a fact because I "feel" it whenever I get around the Trump-types. So how exactly is it "bad" to fight against this structural racism?! It can NOT be good for society.

Excellent response in my opinion. I agree with everything you said. The racism I experienced was almost completely in private, not out in public. At school or anywhere in public, it was extremely rare. My experience is similar to yours in that respect. But in private, it was completely different. It's almost like a split personality issue. A person can act one way behind closed doors with his friends and family (acting almost like a member of the KKK), and act TOTALLY different in public when dealing with blacks (almost like they are a die-hard liberal). THAT is what I experienced while growing up, and today especially among the Trump-types, I see no difference at all. And isn't this what CRT is trying to address?!

This matters because although it isn't seen in public, it does come out indirectly and have very harmful effects to society, like in our judicial system and completely explains the problem with many policy departments. It effects under the surface decision making, even though it's not always apparent at the surface.

Seriously, your taking isolated incidents and applying them to the whole. You don’t think people of other races do the same thing? You must’ve also had an Oedipus complex as a child I presume. Generalizations are never a good look.

And before you start with CRT remember most folks don’t have a guilty conscience like yourself. Everyone must be accountable for themselves. CRT is garbage propaganda for folks who need a set of crutches to explain why they are not accountable. It’s falling on deaf ears here.

A dog whistle is by definition at a frequency that is heard only by dogs. If the dog whistle analogy were appropriate, you wouldn't hear it.

RE: The "WOKE" dog whistle - nomad2u2001 - 07-19-2021 12:36 AM

Woke ain't a dog whistle. In fact, it's the opposite. It's an open joke that everyone knows the meaning of, but ultimately they won't take the joke the same way depending on which side you're on.

Now, I do think that wokeness in society needs to seriously be discussed because it's at least just as much of a problem as its opposite IMO. It's just as foolish to take the stance that the whole system is all bad as it is to say the system is all great. Wokeness and its opposite are the reason we're doomed to fail as a country.

To be woke is to not have a grip on reality, lack common sense, lack logic and critical thinking. To be woke is to be fake woke. Leftists call those of us living in reality, conspiracy theorists.
