Men's conference games are announced.

I remember looking forward to the conference schedule being announced, to find out when we would play Texas, Arkansas and Houston. Now? 03-zzz

So if Arkansas were on the schedule you’d be excited?

Yea, uh... we're playing two of the three teams you mentioned?

The difference is that they are non-conference games. Tell me which CONFERENCE game has you excited?

North Texas beat Purdue in the NCAA tournament last year. UAB and Louisiana Tech (3rd place in NIT) should be even better than UNT this year (they mostly return everybody and brought in a bunch of high scoring transfers) - we face all three of those teams twice. We also have ODU, Charlotte and Western Kentucky at home - three traditional programs who are winners in CUSA. UTEP returns everybody except their one kid who transferred to Texas Tech. All of those schools will be ranked anywhere from 50 to maybe 150 to 175? I actually think UAB could be top-25 material but I guess they'll have to earn their way into the polls.

The only conference games at home that are somewhat blah are UTSA (their two senior studs both moved on) and USM. FIU on the road is another game that we should be favored by a bit. And we're looking at our best roster in the Pera age, and perhaps even better than Rhoades' final year.

As I said in another thread a few weeks back, there is no reason to think that we don't have the talent to approach 20 wins this season. The recent arguments that our men's basketball program is a mess don't hold true in 2021-22. Find another sport to make fun of WRC - things could end up being worse than I am projecting but as of now, you're way off base.

North Texas is 72 and Purdue is 25. UNT beat Purdue in the tournament. These are FANTASTIC and ACCURATE ratings! 03-idea

Edit: Not sure they took postseason games into account.

UCLA made it to the Final Four. During the regular season, they lost to #78 Washington State. What's your point? Upsets happen.

Yes, Pomeroy includes postseason results.

UAB will be better than North Texas (or Western Kentucky) was last year. They were 22-7 last year and return their leading three scorers and 4 of 5 starters (including a 7-0 center who had transferred from Clemson). Then they added transfers (and starters) from USF, Tulane, Ole Miss and Auburn (and another transfer from LSU). The only problem is do they have enough balls to keep all the players happy I guess.

La Tech loaded up on transfers too but I think they may be a notch behind UAB (although they return the conference's top player arguably in Kenny Lofton Jr.). Lofton is 6-7, 270 and was one of the top players for the Team USA Under 21 team this summer. He reminds me of Brent Scott.

Nice schedule and some pretty tough competition.

Women's basketball conference slate - same as the men except when one team is hosting a school, the other team is on the road against the same opponent. Thursday/Saturday slate for both teams then. And I guess we don't get FAU?
