EMU has already started the process of helping players build personal brands. A great head start for NIL rights in a couple years. I love it.

My initial guttural reaction is "Come on Man", EMU has not had an athlete in recent history that had the potential to build a meaningful brand in my estimation.

Then I remember I'm an old guy with a reverence for past practices. NIL is uncharted territory, while I abhor it, refusing to accept it would seem idiotic at this time. EMU is in the business of maximizing career opportunities for its students and this would seem to be a proper decision by the school.

I'm just hoping that I don't see a bunch of Diva players posing after scoring TD's or sacking a QB to "build" their brand while getting a fifteen yard sportsmanship penalty. Yeah I am an old guy with reservations and resistance to change. LOL!

I see it more for show than anything substantive.

As I have been saying, this NIL stuff may expose those areas (or schools) with huge or very large following and those with small following.

With this move toward professionalization of collegiate sports, I'm awaiting a collegiate draft. "With the 48th choice in the 1st round, EMU selects Ben Thrower, a QB from Los Angeles" said NCAA President Mark Emmert. Ben is a 4-star recruit and has a very strong arm, much like Ben Roethlisberger of Miami from over 20 years ago. Ben indicated that he wants to study special ed at EMU. C.C. indicated he's relieved; was afraid that Ben would want to repeat the 12th grade and enter next year's collegiate draft. 03-lmfao C.C. indicated that when they scouted Ben they learned that he has an autistic brother and wants to make a difference once he is done playing in the NFL.

Regardless of your thoughts on NIL, I think we can all appreciate the athletic department showing FORWARD thinking and preparing for whatever changes may come.

Change is a constant in life. Might as well position yourself to benefit. Plus at this point, I'm sure there was little to no financial costs associated with whatever agreement was signed.

Its a realization that each of us is our own brand. Your most important asset is your reputation and your character. When EMU athletes or former athletes are interviewed they come across as articulate and handle themselves quite well.
