I've been searching and just now found that "heart issues" contributed to his premature death.
Very unfortunate. I always cringe when I read post on this board the "Meatball" reference. Inappropriate. And now with John gone, let's hope nobody ever uses it again.
He seemed like a likeable man. I know he respected Memphis and I appreciated him for that.
I wish his surviving family members and friends well.

He got unjustly blamed for a lot of the breakup of the old Big East. And it seems he blamed himself. Poor guy.
