An associates degree in psychology is of little value. An associates degree in a technology presumably is very valuable. An associates degree which is a prerequisite for a 4-year degree is worthwhile (good way to save money - if one plans to do grad work saving money the first two years might not be a bad thing.).

And yes there is now a big emphasis on graduate degree in many areas and enrollment is increasing.. Lot of therapy positions (e.g.. physical, occupational, speech and language, etc.) are advanced degrees. I assume more and more teachers are getting grad degrees. Business is a MBA haven. Lot of other fields have always required a masters or beyond (e.g., social work, clinical or school psych, etc.).

I can honestly say from first hand experience that I know auto mechanics, plumbers, welders and HVAC guys who gross over $100K a year, in Michigan that is REALLY good money. Unlike many recent college grads they are not whining about their student debt even while that degree indeed provides all the "prestige they can eat". Also when was the last time you heard of the aforementioned professions losing their jobs due to "offshoring"?

Steve you are spot on as well. The educational model of the past needs refreshing for sure. As you alluded to, a liberal arts degree is unpractical for most.

In Canada the community colleges are vocational trade schools where unions offer apprentices as part of the classes in some cases. You can get your education paid for 100% if there is,a labor shortage in that trade.

True, but how many new football stadiums are not intelligently designed?

In the Midwest, could some 'weatherproofing' be built in (such as glass enclosure at the end of the grand stands to block what would be north/south or south/north winds at a stadium like Rynearson?

There are 3 elements of concern: rain/snow, wind, and temperatures. Obviously, only an indoor stadium controls all, but intelligent design can partially alleviate say 2 of the 3 elements.

Matter of fact, race tracks used to have enclosed grandstands as they raced pretty much all year.
