NBR: USFL is returning in 2022 - DuelingDragon - 06-03-2021 08:11 AM

Will the Birmingham Stallions in Protective be one of the 8 initial teams, still to be announced?

https://www.foxsports.com/presspass/latest-news/2021/06/03/united-states-football-league-returns-2022

With the XFL also relaunching, one would think Birmingham is going to get a pro team in Protective. Good football market and new stadium.

I suspect the XFL will be the winner here.

If at first you don't succeed, then fail, fail again. And again...and again...and again...and again...and again...and again..........

Calling these leagues "pro" is just a tad bit of a stretch. But of course William Parker will be out there begging for Birmingham to have a team and play their games at Legion Field.

As long as Trump stays out of it, I'm fine w/ the USFL coming back as spring league. He can take his $3 & try to get serviced by someone

I’m still irritated about that.

I think Birmingham will end up with the XFL, not USFL.

Based upon what?

The group owning the USFL apparently does not have Birmingham among the trademarks its has revived such as New Jersey Generals, Memphis Showboats, Tampa Bay Bandits, etc. Dallas Stallions is trademarked. Birmingham Stallions is at this time a dead trademark.

And one of the trademarks is the "Dallas Stallions"

Just because it's not trademarked yet, doesn't mean that it won't be. The league has been filing trademark applications all year (not all at once).

I see where CBS42 is reporting that city officials plan to meet with the USFL in the next few weeks according to a press release from the city.

Of course. I expect we'll see Birmingham talk to both. I just think the XFL will end up being the one that lands here.

And then there's this: Do they have the rights to the USFL?

And of course William Parker wants this at Legion Field:

Any team would be nice to Councilman Parker. It could be a Mexican Rugby league03-drunk

RE: NBR: USFL is returning in 2022 - BAMANBLAZERFAN - 06-04-2021 09:37 PM

Councilman Parker is expected to promote the interests of the City which owns only one large stadium-- Legion Field. If a new league wants to offer a deal with the BJCC for use of Protective Stadium, then it can do that. Right now, I just want to see my city playing in a spring football league under whatever name.

One wit suggested a team for the World FB league for the Philippines so it could be called the Manila Folders.
