Lisa Brannen got busted on Twitter using a burner account. **** the Brannens and their lawyer. Hope they aren’t paid a dime.

If they fail I felt bad because I took someone out of a situation where they were operating acceptably. A fired employee was MY FAULT. I hired poorly or coached poorly, or counselled poorly.

Can I accept Brannen was not the best hire? Yes, but it was UC's fault. Whatever traits UC found that made them want to fire him very likely did not just happen when he got to Clifton. UC failed, pay up move on.

I may not always agree with your sentiments, but it seems like you were not a callous boss, and took responsibility for your actions!
Kudos to you.

An organization is about the people. Another unique thing we did was if you got promoted and did not succeed in your new role we would put you back in your prior role if possible rather than fire you. And you we not disrespected back in that roll.

that's the rub. while everyone has now painted brannen as the devil incarnate, and the AD as our savior, i'm somewhere between the two. brannen may well have been doing a ****** job - outside of the players, i don't know that any of us were there on a regular basis, and even that opinion is not 100% against him (DDJ, the ones who stayed). and the AD, for all of the talk about his compliance / legal background, has cornered UC into litigation with his clumsy handling of this issue. this could hang over UC for a while.

no one "wins" this **** show. all need to just cut their losses, and swallow some pride. to me, the continuing question relates to how the AD leads this program, going forward. it appears that there's more to it, than just that the AD didn't like brannen (or at least i sure hope so) - but what happens next time he decides he doesn't like someone? i/m just not sold on the AD either. maybe there was a reason he was stuck in compliance, and not in a broader position, at his last job.

anyway, have at it - rip me a new one, since i'm not in the mob completely trashing brannen.

If I'm not mistaken, Ollie is still suing UConn. Nobody cares.

The guy couldnt get within 40 points of Houston. He had to go.

He came up on the compliance side but he wasn't "stuck" in it at either of his prior 2 jobs. At Minnesota Deputy Athletics Director for Administration from 2016-19, overseeing the day-to-day administrative operations of the department. He was also deputy athletic director for administration at Syracuse. At both schools his role was far beyond compliance.

I'm encouraged by what we've seen from Cunningham but given the Etienne weirdness of the beginning of his tenure it's too early to make real long term judgments.

Goins got us into the BE.
Thomas got us into the ditch.
Bohn got us CLF.
Richie got us into Court.

He got rid of basketball's version of tuberville without wasting a couple more years and hopefully replaced him with its version of fickell.

Ollie has been spinning his wheels in litigation for over 3 years. UCONN appropriately gave him the proverbial east coast middle finger salute and that was a guy who won a national championship. We have a few fans who think litigation is pearl clutch and faint worthy for a jerk who treated everyone like crap and who has never won a single NCAA tournament game. His nutty Northern Kentucky redneck wife is fun to watch spin on a slow spit on social media. I’ll give him that.

I wonder what you would do if that employee didn't succeed in that new role because he was abrasive or abusive toward certain people who reported to him and showed distrust of his superiors, resulting in turnover and a poor reputation.

I would guess that you would:
- Write that person up and take disciplinary steps
- Offer them the chance to resign to save face, and then
- Fire them and not pay them another dime

Brannen would have gotten away with it if it weren’t for those meddling kids.

Got away with what? Paying for a player to visit a psychiatrist when he was having trouble? The horror!

Ironically, that was one of the few actions that have impressed me about Brannen.

Purposeful ignorance is an interesting strategy. I'd assume this is more of a reference to ignoring medical staff and risking the health of the student athletes.

It is an NCAA violation regardless of his intent. Again for the love of Pete, this man was already under a written reprimand from the AD and then committed another error. That's on him as a head coach to know the rules and to stay out of the boss's crossfire. Most of us blokes would not make two mistakes like he did at our own places of employment.

When was medical staff "ignored"? Specifics and source please.

03-lmfao purposeful ignorance only works when you don’t want to know what the street meat is at 2 am in Tijuana.

Let’s re-hash.

No coach will ever come here now...

No recruits will come here now...

We don’t have the money!

Whaddevah. Go get em’ Wes. Fanbase is glad that jerk is gone.

I'm going to have to refute that one. It works great for about 30 minutes, but then.....
