Ehh!
they shared he is a relative unknown, did a good job in year one, and will make a big jump if he performs at the same or higher level. ACC has a lot of good coaches. Just has trouble keeping them long-term.

Malzahn is not a great coach. Talent is relative and he will take his lumps in the AAC. I'd move him way down the list until he proves himself. Holgerson has proven nothing. He's a bust so far. Montgomery is a proven winner, but the Temple coach has proven nothing. Based on last year alone I'd move Silverfield to 6 at the very least.

This list is the 799th list this year and ranks 790th.

Well. 1 point better than Scott anyway. The verdict is still out on Houston.

5 wins by 3 points or less. Blown off the map by Cincy. Manhandled by Tulane. Team wont be as good this year. He'll have a chance to prove it.

Village idiot maybe not villain.

We did go 8-3 and beat UCF as well as won a bowl game. Things that haven't happened for a while. And this despite having multiple games cancelled as well as losing our All American running back and several other players. Silverfield has also done a great job recruiting the last 2 years. Jury is still out but some of you act like we lost every game last year.

That must be the most idiotic list I've ever seen. Holgorsen is under .500 his last 4 seasons, including last season when he tried to rig the system to create a good team. Willie Fritz 29-33. Montgomery 31-40. Carey 9-11.

Any list that has Holgerson ranked that high is suspect. UH is a laughingstock under him, and I hope they remain there for a while....

Last year was an anomaly, and Silverfield pieced together what he had and held it together as well as can be expected. A fresh start at a normal operation/timeline should give a better account of his abilities.

GTG!

Gus Malzahn is an outstanding coach, and offensive coordinator.
He led Arkansas to the SEC West championship, clashing with Houston Nutt, and leaving to become OC at Tulsa in 2007.
Tulsa had a 5000 yard passer, 1000 yard rusher, and 3 1000 yard receivers that season.
In 2008, Tulsa was 20 yards short from getting 8000 offensive yards, and was 2nd in scoring in the country behind Oklahoma.
In 2009, he became OC at Auburn, and breathed life into their moribund offense. You know what he did in 2010 at Auburn with Cam Newton...
In 2012 he led Arkansas State to its second straight conference title and bowl game...before becoming head coach at Auburn.

Auburn has no major recruiting advantage in its state... Alabama is the state behemoth.
Malzahn did as well as anyone could expect against the greatest college coach basically... EVER. Won another title at Auburn as head coach.
He'll bring that offensive know-how to UCF, and if he can get some defensive studs there... UCF will be in the running for a New Year's day game for the G5 for some time to come.
He's made it clear this is his last coaching stop... in some ways I'm really jealous of UCF over that hire.
That was a grand frickin slam hire.
Keeps them waaaaaayyyyy relevant for some time to come.
I didn't like where they put Coach Silverfield myself, but thinking aloud it makes some sense. We're starting over on offense with a new QB, RB, and basically a rookie WR corps. IF he can pull a winning record out of the hat with a new group... then yeah, Silverfield deserves to be higher on this list.
I am looking forward to this being a better season, because we MASSIVELY restocked our offensive line. We should be able to run, and that will take some pressure off our new starter at QB.
Last year was the weakest O line we've had since year 2 of the Fuente regime. That we finished 8-3 anyway was a testament to the greatness of Brady White and our receiving Corps last year.
