The Final Four Weeks in Baseball - BirdofParadise - 04-28-2021 12:25 PM

Each team has three conference series left, with exception of CCU and UTA, who have four.

It should be noted that the Texas State--South Alabama Series is a non-conference series and will not count in the standings.

Here's a bit of a breakdown. You can draw your own conclusions.

EAST

SOUTH ALABAMA 11-4 (9-0 at home, 2-4 on the road)
@GS, OOC, CCU, @APP
Big showdown in Statesboro this weekend

GEORGIA SOUTHERN 9-6 (5-1 home, 4-5 road)
USA, at stAte, OOC, UTA
Both USA and GS are red hot. This weekend should be fun

APP STATE (6-6) 5-1 home, 1-5 road
ULM, OOC, @LR, USA
Can they break the Jaguars' hearts on the final weekend?

TROY 7-8 (6-3 home, 1-5 road)
OOC, at CCU, stAte, @LA
Trojans have been playing better. Can they get anything done away from Riddle Pace?

GEORGIA STATE 6-9 (4-2 home, 2-7 Road)
CCU, OOC, at TxSt, LR
Can they win at home down the stretch?

COASTAL CAROLINA 3-6 (1-2 home, 2-4 road) @GSU, Troy, @USA, TxSt
With exception of Mobile, they'll play in some hitter friendly parks. And, they can hit.

WEST

LITTLE ROCK 9-6 (8-1 home, 1-5 road)
at UTA, APP, at GSU
They've been nails at home, but the road beckons

UTA (7-5) 3-3 home, 4-2 road
LR, @ULM, LA, @ GS
They get the Trojans and Cajuns at home, but this is a tough schedule the rest of the way.

LOUISIANA 8-7 (4-2 home, 4-5 road)
TXSt., OOC, @UTA, Troy
Nine left against teams a lot like they are. Cajuns have the pitching advantage, but....

TEXAS STATE 7-8 (5-4 home, 2-4 road)
@ LA, OOC, GSU, @CCU
They've shown they can win away from home, but the Cajuns and Chants aren't going to show them any hospitality.

ARKANSAS STATE 6-9 (4-2 home, 2-7 road)
OOC, GS, @ TROY, ULM
This team seems to pitch better at home and won't be an easy out in Jonesboro

ULM 5-10 (4-5 home, 1-5 road)
@App, UTA, @stAte
They're healthy and pitching and hitting better. But can they win outside of Monroe on the weekend?

This league has been mostly home field warriors and road softies. let's see what happens the last four weeks.

The top two teams in the league are a combined 17-1 at home in SBC play. (And naturally the one meeting between them ended in a home sweep)

The Home/road differences this year are wild. It seems just about every team in the league plays far better at home. How that all translates when everyone heads to Montgomery in 4 weeks, who know?

Thanks for this write up. Really puts the whole conference in perspective instead of the one team I'm watching mostly.

this has been a very weird season so far. We are red hot right now, but at the same time, as inconsistent as our pitching can be, it wouldn't surprise me to either get swept in the 1st round, or win the whole damn thing. I really have no clue what will happen.

Makes the whole season fun and frustrating at the same time!

I'm really curious to see how our offense matches up against your pitching staff this weekend. The numbers say that is likely our best chance to stay in the series, because we don't have the pitching to shut your offense down for sure.

RE: The Final Four Weeks in Baseball - GaSoEagle - 05-03-2021 06:39 PM

The stats say we are the top offensive team in the conference and #3 pitching team by ERA. But our weekend starters, especially Saturday and Sunday have been pretty inconsistent. We have had fairly good relief for most of the year and that is a big reason we are 27-16
