Jeremiah Martin back in the NBA? - holyterror - 04-22-2021 08:07 PM

Cleveland reportedly will sign him next week to a 2 way. Martin hung 36 on Cleveland’s G League affiliate this season.

He couldn't dribble with his right hand until his junior season. Lomax couldn't dribble with his left until his sophmore season. Baugh still can't.

Jeremiah is like the Anthony Miller of basketball.

I admire both.

Both are from Memphis, worked hard on the teams, because they love the city and the school.

Evans could not dribble with his left hand his Freshman year, was drafted and was rookie of the year and went on to collect $76,000,000 in salary from a few NBA teams

How does the G League work? I thought that the teams were affiliated with NBA teams; in his case, the Long Island Nets are affiliated with the Brooklyn Nets. How can Cleveland bring him up? Or is it completely different than baseball?

According to this article, it is possible to be on a G League team without that team owning your NBA rights:

https://gleague.nba.com/callups-101/

Quote:All 28 NBA G League teams are singly affiliated with an NBA franchise, but that does not mean that NBA franchises own exclusive rights to all of the players on their NBA G League roster (like in Major League Baseball).

Outside of Two-Way Players and players on NBA Assignment, the majority of players in the NBA G League are available for any of the 30 NBA teams to sign (call up); these NBA G League players have signed contracts with the league rather than their individual team, so by NBA standards they are technically free agents.

This is why, for example, the Miami Heat could call up a Memphis Grizzlies “prospect” from the Grizzlies’ affiliate — as they did in 2014 when they signed center Hassan Whiteside.

Great news for a great kid.

After Covid time out Jeremiah should be available Wednesday.
Sadly, Will Barton stretched his hamstring the other night and could miss the remainder of the regular season. I missed 10 weeks with a stretched hamstring once. We’ll see.
