Rice Baseball @ MTSU - waltgreenberg - 04-01-2021 02:49 PM

I've heard from someone at the game that Antonio Cruz and whomever rooms with him didn't make the trip due to COVID protocol. I believe that includes Dunlap? He's the only other one missing from today's lineup.

RE: Rice Baseball @ MTSU - waltgreenberg - 04-01-2021 02:54 PM

MTSU's lineup is even worse than ours-- only one guy above .300, and 3 guys hitting well below the Mendoza Line. Their pitching, however, is much, much better-- they're averaging better than a strikeout per inning pitched, and they don't walk batters.

RE: Rice Baseball @ MTSU - Tomball Owl - 04-01-2021 03:28 PM

6 up 6 down for the Owls so far although Comeaux did reach on an error with 2 outs in the first only to get thrown out stealing/or maybe picked off?

RE: Rice Baseball @ MTSU - waltgreenberg - 04-01-2021 03:52 PM

Walks and wild pitches continue to be our undoing. Down 0-1 after 3 innnings.

RE: Rice Baseball @ MTSU - waltgreenberg - 04-01-2021 03:58 PM

We have one ground single through 4 innings. 4 strikeouts and 6 ground outs. Only one ball hit in the air. 03-hissyfit Note-- this pitcher came in with a good WHIP and K/BB ratio, but a 4.50 ERA.

Although the run was earned as a single followed the throwing error and wild pitch. Runner would have advanced to 3rd on the WP and scored on the single.

But I agree the walks are killers especially when you have no offense to retaliate.

Bragga offense gets here when?

RE: Rice Baseball @ MTSU - waltgreenberg - 04-01-2021 04:12 PM

Our offense through 5 innings: 1 ground single, 6 Ks, 7 ground outs, 1 pop out.

It is here. Nobody playing except Gneiting and Comeaux played for Wayne.

Garcia, Larzabal, Cox (is he still on roster?) also played for Wayne (though I think you were talking about position players).

Correct, Tomball asked when the Bragga offense would get here. This is it. These are his players.

1-1 in the 8th. Both starters still in. 5 hits combined in the game.

RE: Rice Baseball @ MTSU - waltgreenberg - 04-01-2021 04:54 PM

As good as Brogdon has pitched against an equally horrid MTSU offense, he's up to 105 pitches. I'd probably pull him now, and at least have some one (Wood, hopefully) fully warmed up and ready to go should he allow a baserunner.

RE: Rice Baseball @ MTSU - waltgreenberg - 04-01-2021 04:58 PM

karp led off with a walk, was sacrificed to 2B, but back-to-back strikeouts ends the threat. 1-1 heading to bottom of the eighth.

And it's volleyball time!

The 2nd out wasn't a strikeout-Hughes had a hit that almost dropped.

Leadoff single and Bragga keeps Brodgdon in. Now up to 112 pitches. This isn't likely to end well.

My mistake. Line drive out on an 0-2 pitch.

RE: Rice Baseball @ MTSU - waltgreenberg - 04-01-2021 05:07 PM

Greenwood in after sac bunt. Runner on 2B, one out. Top of the order up for MTSU.

RE: Rice Baseball @ MTSU - Tomball Owl - 04-01-2021 05:10 PM

Both teams with blue jerseys with my old color blind eyes on a iPhoone 8 (not the big one) is tough!

RE: Rice Baseball @ MTSU - waltgreenberg - 04-01-2021 05:16 PM

Greenwood gets a strikeout, but then WP, walk, WP, walk loads the bases with two outs...and he falls behind 2-0 on the next hitter. He's going to have to groove one and pray.

Prayer not answered-- double. Down 1-4. Greenwood is his own worst enemy. Wood should have been the pitcher replacing Brogdon.

RE: Rice Baseball @ MTSU - ExcitedOwl18 - 04-01-2021 05:18 PM

Greenwood blows it in B8.

MTSU double clears the bases and it's 4-1.
