Tiger faithful, hear ye the word! - MemphisTigerPawr - 04-01-2021 09:25 AM

Here's some Tiger Gospel:

I believe Penny is going to lead us back to college basketballs promised land. There was a time I wasn't too sure about a few things with Penny but he has shown the heart, drive and desire to persevere, develop and deliver humbly as a coach, and to instruct his teams how to do the same on and off the court. (I trust)

Penny has displayed resolute discipline and thick skin through all the murmuring, and the ability to react positively through the wilderness valleys and all manner of draught, hunger and adverse circumstances.

Still I believe a quality and cagey veteran (A big brother "Aaron" type) would have helped expedite the entering into of our inheritance, and helped Penny minister to the Tiger faithful as it were, and lead our young troops to the NIT and NCAA mountaintop sooner, but perhaps there were lessons yet to be learned that may need be applied in our future journey's.

We need not fear the basketball giants in NCAA land any longer. Be strong and brave Tiger Nation as we march onward and upward towards that high calling! Believe, receive and and share this good news to those all around you. Begin around Normal first, then throughout Memphis and Shelby County, and thence unto the uttermost parts of the earth!

Let that mighty river of Tiger Spirit roll and its waves roar my brothers and sisters!

Can I get a witness?!

We are going to be fine. Penny is the man to lead this program.

This situation was NOT unexpected.

I’m still happy about our NIT championship—-gives me a lift of vitality every time I think of it.

Agree. And on top of all of that, we found out that Penny can be a good floor coach at this level. The changes in offense and defensive additions are prime examples. We are in good hands.

Penny faces different challenges than Juan Howard at Michigan. He deals with the adversity NCAA throws at him better than.....anyone I can think of.

Happy to have Penny at the helm!

Yep - if anything has shown us Penny can coach, it's this team's defense. Getting all those guys to dig in like that is impressive.

Boogie & Baugh transferring were not surprises at all to anyone who's been paying attention, so it certainly was no surprise to Penny. DJ was maybe a little more surprising, but again, nothing coaches weren't aware of. I'd bet they have several options from the portal lined up they're going to be working on.

No it wasn’t. To get to where we want to be things had to change and this is part of this.

I was referring to the portal, not the exodus of particular players. Although the ones who left aren’t terribly surprising to me.

Me either. Nesbitt was a bit of a surprise. But I knew when he did not travel with the team to the NIT something was wrong. Really hated to see the others go, but wasn’t really surprised. I think a change will really help DJ. Get all the noise out if his ear from family and friends. A change will probably help Baugh as well. I think Boogie is who he is. Hopefully he will continue to improve and get more consistent. I just don’t think he has a PG mentality though.

Defense is where you find great coaches. Offense is mostly determined by talent...you move your guys to get open shots (not hard) and if they are good enough, they hit them or beat their guy off the dribble.

On D, you have to teach so much more...help side, pick and roll philosophy, pack line vs extended, motivating to buy in, etc. our D shows Penny’s a good coach imo. We do need to spend a little more time on offense getting guys to move, cut, etc at the beginning of the year ?

May i suggest some deprogramming?

He is a mortal coach, not a god.

He's had decent results so far.

Hopefully, he will continue to improve.

Penny is, undisputed, a player getter. Always has been and will be. So fear not the portal. The question was, can Penny coach them up. His D for a few years has shown he can. This year with the improvement in O, everyone should feel better about that. (Unless you just wanna be a Miserable).
We are in good hands.

Penny has grown a lot as a coach just this year. If the trend continues he will be great.

Need to fill madlocks seat with someone who will add to the recipe and we will be cookin
