I know it’s hard to wait but do you think UC’s side would leak anything about NCAA violations. They are not going to saying on this situation until their fire him and his clown show staff.

I can’t believe how true it was when I said I wanted him gone three months ago after the Tulsa loss at home.

What leaks? How is the media being played? Are you alleging that the report is false and they have met with Brannen and staff?

RE: UC Statement on Brannen - crex043 - 04-02-2021 09:08 PM

The longer this goes on, the more it seems that retaining Brannen is the best choice. Regardless, none of us really know what's going on, but the optics are not good.

This needs to be resolved sooner rather than later so all parties involved can move forward.

Feels like we are choosing the worst possible option. I'd even feel better if the admin came out today and supported Brannen. Just letting this thing hang out there for a weeks is crazy.

Sounds like there are 2 options.

1. Suck it up, pay the buyout and start fresh . Or

2. Give a statement of full support. Blame covid and the crazy transfer environment. (And be ready to move on next offseason if brannen can't deliver this offseason/ season).

Option 2 hopefully soon!

Agreed. At this point, the case to fire Cunningham is stronger than the one to fire Brannen in my opinion.

i doubt this is an option but maybe getting rid of both Brannen and Cunningham is the best solution. i can't imagine anyone is happy with the performance of either individual.

RE: UC Statement on Brannen - UCBearcatlawjd2 - 04-02-2021 09:29 PM

You can’t judge the AD until this is over and he picks the next coach. I am already done with Brannen.

I doubt either survives the next 12 months.

Why would the AD leave. From what I have read he has the support of the administration. If he screws up the next hire or there is a scandal linked to him then he will be on the hot seat.

If all the reports we are hearing are true, I can. Brannen has tried unsuccessfully multiple times to meet with Cunningham. I've never heard of a successful "closed door" policy like that creating a good working environment. Have any of you ever experienced that and thought it was "fair"? Would you want to work under those circumstances?

Where did you read of this "support"? If true, maybe it's time to demand some answers from the "administration"...

Chad's sources said it doesn't appear that we are close to any resolution. When JC was asked about the situation on "coffee with Cunningham" he said he understood the criticism but can't say anything at this time.

Pinto's primary job is the worry about the University of Cincinnati, not Bearcats basketball. Gifts are up, research expenditures are up (considerably) community investment and development is exponentially growing, enrollment is increasing in a time when everyone is hoping to remain flat...Pinto ain't getting anything but plaudits there.

He hand picked Cunningham because he was a legal minded guy without a penchant for big spending...he isn't running him out of town.

Cunningham certainly isn't winning the narrative. He's not very charismatic, which is important for fundraising and keeping boosters happy. What's his plan with the basketball investigation?

It's pretty clear that we already have a divided fanbase with strong opinions on JB. If Cunningham finds a way to rid UC of JB at a reduced cost or for cause, but it takes another month, he'll find himself in hot water. An angry divided fanbase is bad for business. I hope he has a good plan moving forward...

I'm not suggesting Pinto be removed. All I'm saying is he shouldn't be immune to questions about one of our flagship programs when it comes to negatively impacting the University of Cincinnati brand.

We might see how loyal he is to Cunningham if us lowly sports fans show our disapproval with Cunningham for legitimate reasons.

IMHO, Cunningham survives as long as he is useful. As soon as his stink starts to rub off on Pinto or the BOT, he will be sent packing in a hurry.

most in this forum hated on both Cronin and Brannen. Cronin is in the Final Four. Makes some feel pretty stupid right now, huh?

He wasn't going to do it here. I never "hated" the guy, but the program grew stagnant. I'm fine with moving on from Brannen, too, but to dismiss him with a "that guy can't coach" is pretty rash when he has had exactly two seasons, one of which was Covid year.

I just love know it alls who always show up to point out how dumb everybody else is.

... conveniently forgetting that in Cronin's last two years here he lost in the second round with a team that was a 2 seed (details of that game withheld) and lost in the first round as a higher seed where he was actually outcoached by freakin' Fran Mcaffrey.

So yeah, I'm hating on Brannen because the product he puts on the court here is entirely subpar.

If we can him and next year he goes on to lead Slippery Rock to the NCAA title, so be it.

No, sir.

I liked Mick, but after his Butch Jones-esque departure tour through UNLV and his insistence on getting paid more despite already being paid in the Top 25 and rarely finishing in the Top 25 most years and pushing for a Top 25 facility but continuing to slide on recruiting, the time for him to go has passed.

No one would have been happy with him had he stayed and continued to recruit how he was at the end of his tenure. Especially given all of the quotes I've seen from Hep about basically beating feet when any serious competition showed up. That's a defeatist attitude that we don't need here, and Fick has proven that it has no place here at UC.

RE: UC Statement on Brannen - Dannyboy - 04-03-2021 08:05 AM

Cronin would have been beloved except he made 1 Sweet Sixteen and 0 Elite Eights in 14 years. In other words, he needed to be successful.
