I’m not gonna say I’m the only who ever had the idea but I’m not too far removed from Nostradamus.

Good call!

My question I posted on your thread still remains though. Who adapts to who's rules? Personally, I have a affinity to the CFL so I would be miffed if they changed from their current format (3 downs, 110 yard field, etc...)

I would hope CFL rules. I like the differences and it does have a following!

I'd prefer a blend of CFL and XFL rules.

CFL:
- Rouge
- Final 3 mins
- Punt Halo
- Roster size
- WR pre-snap rules

XFL:
- Running clock
- Kickoffs
- Conversion tiers
- Sky Judge
- 100x50 yd field
- 4 downs

I'd agree with that list, but I'd keep the CFL rule of 3 downs. With the CFL rules that allow forward motion, and the XFL's rule about forward passes behind the line of scrimmage, moving the ball 10 yards shouldn't take four downs.

The larger CFL field is a non-starter south of the Canadian border.

Yeah, I suppose it would be much easier to convert CFL stadiums to the smaller field configuration as opposed to their American counterparts going larger.

It ain't happening (at least for now).

Quote:The XFL announced on Wednesday that it is planning to relaunch in 2023 after talks with the Canadian Football League about collaboration between the two leagues were tabled.

The XFL and CFL both said in separate statements that the decision was jointly reached between the leagues.

"Our talks with the XFL, exploring the potential for collaboration and innovation, have been positive and constructive. While we remain open to finding new ways to work together in the future, we and our XFL counterparts have jointly decided to not pursue any formal arrangements at this time," the CFL said in a statement.

They are still stung from the poor US expansion they tried in the early 90s with nearly every franchise south of Canada going bankrupt and I believe all the teams were done in less than 3 years/seasons.
