What do we know about who is coming in next year? - HaymondAtThe4 - 03-11-2021 10:03 PM

How many scholarships do we have? Who are we targeting (transfers and otherwise)?

Anyone with any inside info would be much appreciated!

Not inside info however Currently known is five scholarship departures. WMU has two signed HS players & one transfer committed from Duquesne.
With those known there should be 2 scholarships to give.

Yesterday Indiana newspaper wrote 400 in transfer portal with expected total over last years 900 players.
So 500 more yet unknown players for coaching staff to look at.

Before the exodus IMO WMU needed an upgrade in a combo forward, PG and depth in the pivot.

With the two freshman they address the combo forward and maybe PG. Not sure if Gus is a PG or another BAW. If an effective scorer then AD could play the point (IMO).

With Norman's transfer depth at the PG spot is provided allowing others to be assured of being more combo guards. Not really sure if PG is just a label for Norman or an accurate description.

Lobsinger has some skill and size but in the few clips I saw painfully slow. They're clips so I won't cast a judgement. Seems like he has range and can be physical.

Wright's leaving (I assume that there is no chance of returning) IMO is a huge blow. I disagree with others that his production came off of others. Two years ago he was the 4th option. Maybe double teamed on rare occasion. This year he was thee focal point. WMU under Hawk and likely Bates were going to be an inside out O. Lee was an unknown. That left White who was only the 3rd option and pretty much a jump shooter who would only drive to finish with his right hand. Initially as Lee proved to be an excellent mid and short range passer TW did well. In short order that was a D focal point. That left pretty much post ups that assured dbl teams. I saw NO action on the perimeter to stir the D. Find a place and wait for a kick out. D's figured it out. Trap taking away the sight line to the further most wooden Indian and make TW pick it up and cut off lanes.

Next year I hope they can find another big who is mature and can take the load off Greg defensively inside. Whitens isnt a big and Emillen outside of Butler and one other game disappeared. Had some nice assist games (Good) but his effective sniping was eliminated by the opp and he proved to really have no other game on O. He'll be a senior so he either delivers or sits. No kinda, wanna, shoulda. That's why another true big is needed. IMO.

Two ships ... a potentially starting 5 or another big 4 who is mature and doesnt allow undue pressure on Lobsinger. A combo fwd who can spell Lee, replace Emillen if needed. A healthier, slimmer (therefore quickier) Squeaky like.

Mystery man is Holmes. Rep was good driver with very good D. Going into 2nd JC year much improved range. Then injured. Proof of concept or false positive? Last year his FT shooting is likely an indicator. Not a shooter. Length and speed make him a threat on D. But shot blocking is over rated. Jury is still out for me but maybe the staff knows otherwise.

Actually the NCAA waiver rule could give WMU 1 or 2 extra scholarships for next year.
