Going to be interesting to see how tomorrow develops. I wonder how far Ridder will fall...

Only 1 QB so far. And it was the Steelers taking the local boy.

Tomorrow should be a big Bearcat day.

Read an article yesterday before the draft that talked about how all the teams were getting cold feet about the QB's because they are all viewed as "projects". The Steelers have the luxury of drafting a project because of the Trubisky signing.

The ESPN commentators were mentioning Coby Bryant as a possible option when #32 Vikings were on the clock. But they ended up selecting Cline. Hopefully Bryant is the first DB selected today. Kind of wish the Bengals grabbed him, but they got a good one in Daxton Hill. He was projected to go higher than where Bryant has been projected. I think if Hill didn't fall into their laps, they may have taken Bryant.

Coby is much closer to being a late 3rd early 4th rounder than a first rounder. If anything I thought Pierce had a chance to sneak into the first late with how the WR's were flying off the board.

Calling them projects is a bit of an oversimplification. Malik Willis is definitely a project. Pickett, Des, and Corral have played a ton of football and are much further along in their development. Obviously you're not done developing at 22-23 but there's less room to grow. I think the QB desperate teams determined that these guys weren't long term solutions and the best strategy was to build their teams and get the QB in next year's draft which is supposed to be a good QB draft.

I actually think of the teams looking for QB Pittsburgh made the biggest mistake. Trubisky isn't good but he's been a playoff QB; he's a bottom third of the league starter but to me he's one of the 32 best in the league. Pickett, Ridder to me are at best that type of player. If I've got Trubisky I'm taking the upside of Willis to take a little bit more of a swing.

Funny. Wife and I were out for dinner watching and when they cut to him and she looked perpetually pissed on her phone my wife said, dump her now..save the time and the divorce attorney.

Credit Mrs. Rath for never putting the divorce attorney on speed dial.

Job security, baby....rehabbing our places...one is an 1860's 2 story log home and the other is an 1890's former resort lodge...both among the oldest buildings in the county...if I ever finish the project she'll get rid of me.

It was also mentioned that the Steelers had a greater familiarity with Pickett since the Steelers and the (Pittsburgh) Panthers share physical training facilities. So the Steeler coaching and training staff already have a good gauge of exactly what they are getting with Pickett.

It does seem to be a trend of NFL teams starting to pick-up "local" talent. The Steelers decided to draft Pickett. The Lions drafted a Michigan guy who is also from the Detroit area and the Texans drafted a guy out of A&M who is from Houston. I'm not saying the Bengals ***should*** draft a UC guy just because of the connections, but it could be that, where everything else is basically equal, bringing home a "local" guy is not a bad way to drum-up ticket sales.

Pierce makes way too much sense in round 2 to the Packers if he's somehow still around or if they trade up.

On ESPN's top players available by Position, UC currently has a top 10 player going into round 2 at:
QB - 2
RB - 9
WR - 5
DE - 8
ILB - 9
CB - 10
S - 6

Curtis Brooks is 19 at DT

If I had to guess, we will have 4 guys called today (Ridder, Pierce, Cook, Sanders in that order).

While the Jets made yesterday a proud one for Bearcat fans (and Sauce), how exciting if UC could load up the NFL draft with a bunch more in the second round today? I recall a wall decorated with all our UC pro players somewhere in the football facilities.

We have a problem. We're going to need a bigger wall.

Although I am a Steelers fan, I am not a fan of the T-shirt under the suit jacket look.

Learn from Sauce how to look good.

Dunno. He's about the only QB in the draft who warranted a 1st round pick, IMO. It's not a very deep QB class for whatever reason.
