Middle relief has been the issue for much of the season...needed to make a dent in the 7th with that bases loaded situation and couldn't do it. Meat of our order is up in the 8th...if we can't make it happen here it'll be tough to get what we need in the 9th.

And we bounce a pitch 4 feet then 8 feet in front of the plate to allow another run in...down 10-8 now. 6 run inning on only two balls hit out of the infield.

Yep, BIG innings in college baseball really are BIG, in this case, for the wrong team. Most teams won't give up 14 and win and I agree that middle relief will be the key in Googins' recruiting and development to take Bearcat baseball another step up the ladder. A couple of more reliable arms (easy for me to say) could have made this an NCAA team.
It's not all over, but the odds get tougher after a first loss in these elimination rounds.
I have to add, it's truly been a pleasure enjoying so much UC baseball on ESPN+ all season. I subscribed for those football and basketball games that fell off the cable networks but this is a viewing bonus.

Yep...for all of the belly aching the crotchety old guys on here do about ESPN+, I've found it incredibly accessible and a great way to get to watch far more UC sports than I otherwise would've in years past.

I've also enjoyed UC/AAC on ESPN +. In addition to UC baseball I've watched a little men's golf and the AAC Track and Field meet.

It's easily my biggest bang for the buck in subscriptions, particularly given that I love watching international soccer (cue Doss re: Nippert notches).

True. But a big opportunity for redemption today if UC can knock #1 seed and NCAA lock ECU off and eliminate the Pirates from an AAC championship. If that fortunate outcome occurs, the pathway suddenly seems a bit more intriguing for our Bearcats.
If not, it's been an enjoyable season and oh so close to contending. And if not, I really hope ECU carries the American Conference banner all the way to Omaha.
