You can watch it every evening,” Gillenwater told Clay. Customers head on over to Tennessee, where COVID restrictions don’t include bar and restaurant curfews. The party can go on across the street, while Gillenwater and Jones contemplate what they can do to battle Virginia Governor Ralph Northam.

“We are consistently losing money because of these restrictions,” Jones added. “Live entertainment has been curtailed which has impacted our late-night sales having to shut down at 10 p.m. It’s been a real killer for us.”

The story of Bristol, Virginia and Bristol, Tennessee dealing with different lockdown restrictions isn’t new. The mainstream media has covered the unique aspects of the city with the state line running down the middle of the street going all the way back to May 2020 when CNN reported that Virginia restaurants weren’t allowed to accept Tennessee customers.

You deserve the consequences of your vote! Virginians have nobody to blame but themselves. If Northeastern Virginia is poisoned by the beltway they should cede that area to D.C..

RE: Bristol TN - Bristol VA - olliebaba - 02-20-2021 03:22 PM

I wonder what would happen if a Tennessean would stand in the middle of the street and piss into the other side? I know in SF nothing would happen but we're talking about normal people, well half normal. Would the cops in the Leftist state try to arrest the individual and could the individual insist on the cops not going over their jurisdiction? The Tennessee cops couldn't arrest him either because he wasn't pissing on Tenn. soil. LOL

Just contemplation...

RE: Bristol TN - Bristol VA - solohawks - 02-20-2021 03:23 PM

Yep. It’s a federal issue - interstate water rights!! 03-lmfao03-lmfao03-lmfao

The sad part is those folks in Bristol Virginia are about as far from the liberal cesspool that now controls all of Virginia as you can get and I’m sure they didn’t vote for coonman in great numbers.

Just another example of normal folks that have been swallowed up by the idiots in some big city.......

Bristol TN - Bristol VA - ETSUfan1 - 02-21-2021 08:06 PM

I have a watering hole in downtown Bristol, TN. Went across the street to get food on the VA side and they have to stop selling alcohol at 10pm because of restrictions. No big deal, headed back to the TN side and drank til 1am.

Good good. Spend your money in Tennesee. Virginia needs no money after 10pm. You went to get food or something to eat? I hate the getting food thing. Did you stock it for redistribution or storage for later. You went to eat. You didnt go to get food.

Went to get food. I hate millineals.

Because the Republicans gave up without a fight and because they put up with Governor Blackface's mea culpa's to the Leftist agenda.

RE: Bristol TN - Bristol VA - umbluegray - 02-22-2021 09:46 AM

The idiot republicans may have given up and may be in shambles, but that doesn't mean the Dems haven't been engaging in election fraud.

As far as I know, the Dems have been rigging elections for years. Any time they can find a large county run by corrupt dems they simply implement their ballot-dump scam and voila!

Virginia's Republican party has been in shambles for a while:
https://www.nytimes.com/2021/02/19/us/politics/virginia-republicans-governor.html

I love how the guy in the article is saying that they should just accept the candidates appointed by the state party leadership and not have primaries. True colors of authority showing through there! Clearly their refusal to accept that party leadership's power to appoint candidates instead of having a primary for ALL PARTY MEMBERS to vote for candidates is what is leading to the party's issues in Virginia...........07-coffee3

RE: Bristol TN - Bristol VA - Owl 69/70/75 - 02-22-2021 12:12 PM

Republicans are the stupid party when it comes to elections. Democrats have an evil agenda, but they are passionate about it and they realize that wining elections is the only way to get the power to do anything, so that's all they care about. Whether a policy is good or bad is irrelevant, if it will turn out a voting bloc then do it.

I want to see republicans become as passionate about winning elections as democrats are. And I want republicans to understand that there are places where a pro-life, anti-LGBT candidate cannot win anything. So for the purpose of things that matter in terms of power, like control of the senate or HOR, electing a pro-choice, pro-LGBT republican in New York or New England or California is just as important as electing a pro-life, straight republican in Texas.

What the left doesn't understand is that like the Japanese at Pearl Harbor, you don't want "to awaken a sleeping giant and fill him with a terrible resolve"

When government interferes with everyday life in ways that disturb and anger the average family, a rebellion will be born. The sad thing here Owl is that most Americans have way to much tolerance for imbeciles. When we get to the point that the majority are angry it will be be ugly and there will be no stoppage of the ugliness until the threat is wholly expunged. That too alters the nation negatively. When otherwise tolerant and peaceful people are so angered it alters their natures and tolerance ceases to exist for a time.

RE: Bristol TN - Bristol VA - SMUstang - 02-23-2021 12:23 PM

Though I don't like it. I tend to agree with Owl on this point. Whatever it takes to get rid of the lefties.

I always vote on the principle of “the lesser of two evils”, which means I can find myself voting for what some would characterize as a RINO in the general election. I’ll hold my nose and pull the lever.

Now, primaries are different. I vote for the candidate I most want primary time - but I never vote for the leftist any time.

I try and be a pragmatist, I’ll take 70% of what I want over political purity.
