Malzahn is most dangerous when he's out to prove people wrong. That's what makes at least the early years of his tenure at UCF look like a good hire. My concern if I was UCF would be how long he intends to ride that ship. If he's out to prove he's a great coach again specifically for the purpose of getting a new job, you'll have a new coach in 2 years. But if he plans to stay long term, things get far more interesting.

He's a talented coach though. The dude managed to beat Nick Saban 3 times in 8 years for heavens sake. Not many can claim that.

Malzahn is dangerous with a smart mobile qb and an absolute beast at running back.

Interviewed at Bama last year for their strength position. Seems like another good hire.

Any news on an OC hire? That should say a lot regarding the direction Gus is headed

The last few years at Auburn, I thought he seemed about as energetic as Heupel. But that is not what we're seeing right now, so if that keeps up, this could be a grand slam.

Again I think some of this is simply Auburn (Tenn, Florida St, etc) being Auburn. Most coaches would never have been on the hot seat with Gus doing what he was. The handful of schools where he would be come with their own issues and disadvantages.

An old coach use to say that the first five years you were king, then you'd lose about 10% of your support every year or two after that. People get demanding when you're winning wanting more and better. People get bitter when you're losing nostalgic for the good ol days and cynical to your ways. 10 years is a pretty good run at any school and it's pretty rare to go longer, when you do they name stadiums after you so those are the easy ones to remember the Bryants, the JoPa's but if you look at places like ND, USC, and even Texas 10 years is about what the "good" ones lasted.

Guy keeps failing upwards.

Wonder if that means Chad Morris as OC.

Bentley is apparently trying to stay at SC into the summer so he qualifies for his full state teachers pension. That’s fine for an analyst, I guess. Not so fine for a QB coach to miss spring practice, so I’m thinking that’s the real issue.

UCF stealing what should be our staff 03-banghead We are going to be so f**ked when we finally have zero choice but to fire Monty and clean up what will be a massive mess. Zero chance we will get any of those guys back now. Marion will be an OC candidate some good place by then.

But we'll stick with the loser who has zero institutional control. I feel myself slowly going the way of Largent and Blankenship, how long did it take to get Rader to say something semi positive? That's about where I am from Monty.

Maybe Panic will come back to coach.

Just hired as co-OC Tim Harris Jr from FIU. Great recruiter and FIU #1 recruiter and #1 in CUSA during the last recruiting class.

Can you elaborate specifically why you feel that way?

Most everyone I have interacted with seem to think both hires are outstanding.

Are you talking Heupal or Frost?

What do Frost or Heuple have to do with anything? You were saying you were not impressed with the interviews of the new AD or Malzahn and I asked why. Most all UCF fans I have interacted with thought both were excellent.

Guess I was confused by the bolded statement. The fact that Malzahn said UFC at one point and neither really impressed with their speaking abilities, and the fact that Malzahn, in another interview, when asked about the Peach Bowl game, said that UCF brought it and that Auburn really did not play well. I was at the game and that was not what I saw. I do like the hiring for the fact he will try recruiting more in Florida and bring in a spread offense that will give the defense a chance.
