Bad for Arkansas St and the Sun Belt if true. Mohajir is one of the best AD's I've ever seen.

Yep. He’s outta here.

Kind of an odd hire for UCF. T-Mo’s strength is facilities and fundraising. UCF doesn’t really need help in those areas.

When the opening first happened DG was on the short-list of candidates I saw mentioned. Glad we kept him. Sucks for stAte

Fundraising is always a need and Danny White was extremely good at it; I'm guessing our President feels that we need someone who has a track record of fundraising well and keeping that momentum. A lot of major Athletics projects at UCF are underway entirely because White drew out donations that we simply weren't getting previously.

It's telling that Allen White (AD Auburn) was a finalist but our Prez is apparently going with Mohajir. I think the "ease" of fundraising at Auburn may have worked against Green and for Mohajir.

He was definitely a unique AD. He was very candid about everything. He was very defensive about the hires he made.

Identifying coaches should be the strong suit of our next AD.

Also really the only strong public voice advocating for the SBC.

Cause you know our commissioner isn't going to do it.

As a fan base I think we’re comfortable with this. Mohajir did some great things here, but he’s a fundraiser and we need someone who can maintain just as much as build now.

The Sunbelt Should hire Mohajir as it's next commissioner......now that he's not going to be our AD, lol.

RE: Mohajir to UCF? - RedWolfington - 02-08-2021 12:21 PM

A lot of our less intelligent fans will be missing Tmo in 1-5 years, depending on when a replacement hire is needed for Butch. Oh, but I'm sure they'll point to it being a "win" if he hires new baseball and basketball coaches that win 5 more games a season. Lmao.
We have a lot of fans that develope irrational grudges.

Yeah, but losing an AD of his caliber won't be easy. He will definitely be a huge asset at Central Florida.

Mohajir is the most identifiable AD in the SBC. I hate to see him go from StAte.

RE: Mohajir to UCF? - EigenEagle - 02-08-2021 12:33 PM

Hate to see him go and loved his candor and support for the league, but every AD eventually gets to the point where they've done all they can do and you need some fresh blood. Not sure if Mohajir was there quite yet but he was a good one.

I'd like to get rid of Keith Gill and make TM commissioner TBH.

UCF AD to SBC commish would be about a 300K-500K pay cut.

One of the best in the SBC. I thought he and DG at App were certainly 1st tier. Anyone else you’d consider in that group?

RE: Mohajir to UCF? - slycat - 02-08-2021 12:51 PM

Y'all can hire Teis. He is got a lot of years on on resume. That has to count for something. Right?

Maybe Coastals. They are set up well across multiple sports, decent schedules, improving facilities, and good coaching hires.

And Florida has no State Income Tax.

Allen Greene, not Allen White. Anyway, I think Greene's salary demands may have been too high. We're supposedly about $12m in the red because of Covid. About half of that has been wiped out thanks to Tennessee paying DW + Heupel buyouts. But we still are probably not in a position to pay the $1.5m we were paying DW, which is I'm sure what Greene wanted. Sounds like Mohajir will make $850k, which is doubling his A-State salary while saving us close to 3/4 of a million bucks.

I don't know what his buyout is, if any, but if we end up scheduling a 1:1 with A-State, I'd be on board with that. I'd love to drive over to Jonesboro for a game.
