They said Nuga is done for the year... That really hurts. Wish him the best. Hope to see him back next year.

ACL is what i heard

This is the ugliest stretch we've had all year. I fear these ugly offensive stretches are going to be more frequent without having Nuga.

RE: men's basketball vs miami - anti-zip - 02-02-2021 06:48 PM

We're lucky to only be down 7 at half. That second 10 minutes was the worst we've looked all year by a lot. I think some individual shot selection really needs improvement. On the season, Hamilton is now 1-11 from three and Hernandez is 1-19. There's a reason you're open, they want you to shoot it. Don't give them what they want.

I am so disappointed with the loss of Nuga. Not sure we can salvage the season.

Here’s to another victory.

The loss of Nuga is a horrible blow. I'm depressed. They will still be a good team, but definitely a lesser team.

RE: men's basketball vs miami - anti-zip - 02-02-2021 08:20 PM

It's certainly tough to know where we stand in the MAC with Nuga gone. He's a two way player that really helps make us special on the glass because he's a big rebounder for a guard. It's a shame because at full strength we're a really good team. Here's your crazy stat of the night... Toledo has had 0 games postponed this year. Not to take anything away from them, but they're the team that has had the most "normal" season and we lost to them by 2 both times. They're good, but they're certainly not the powerhouse the standings make it seem.

If it is Nuga's ACL he might not be back until well into next season, if he even comes back.

Reminds me of a few years back when Kent had a really good MAC season going, ... then lost Pollard for the year and sputtered the rest of the way. This team seems a bit deeper than that one, but still. Losing 18 ppg is a major hurt, not to mention his rebounding.

Somebody in the backcourt now needs to become a consistent double figure scorer. Even 10-11 ppg if it's consistent. Then the defense can tweek it up a notch to maybe??? make up for the rest.

RE: men's basketball vs miami - Muskrat - 02-02-2021 11:16 PM

Jacobs, Hernandez or Jordan needs to step up. I would assume they will all have their chance. If none does, we'll see #2 guard by committee. Of course, after years of "3 guard" lineups we could even see one guard and 4 bigs. They will be hurt by Nuga's loss, but the question just HOW much.

RE: men's basketball vs miami - anti-zip - 02-03-2021 01:49 AM

He was walking around at the bench. So it seems like a torn ACL is pretty unlikely?

RE: men's basketball vs miami - anti-zip - 02-03-2021 07:53 AM

Quote from Sendy in the RC article today regarding Nuga. If there's still a possibility then it's not a torn ACL.

“I don't anticipate him playing moving forward this year. I don't,” said Senderoff. “I guess there is a possibility, but I don't expect that.”

RE: men's basketball vs miami - Muskrat - 02-03-2021 08:14 AM

I heard Senderoff say that about Nuga's injury post game. That's certainly good news, all things considered. I just hope Nuga comes back next year. That would be huge for next season.

kind of bummed about losing nuga like everyone else.. BUT i do see a way to overcome the loss..

1.) jordan can shoot. he will have more PT and he can knock-down his shots

2.) gabe o'neil (my fave player) he will have more PT (deservedly so) if he can do what he did last night every game..

Yeah - a see-saw game. We started off up by 10, Miami battles back and gets up by 10, then we battle back again and go up by 10 again.
