RE: Capitol Watch - B_Hawk06 - 01-14-2021 12:52 PM

The last pic of the national guard sleeping in the hallways of the Capitol tells you exactly what our politicians think of them.

They're considered nothing but numbered fodder to serve as protective violence catchers. Bringing them into DC by the tens of thousands with no plan to take care of them is absurd.

I'd love to see the outrage if a politician had to sleep on a concrete floor. Poor things might be "scared for their lives".

lots of congressmen sleep in their offices because they can't afford the DC rent

Can't afford rent on $170,000/year?

Heck, some of them were outraged that they had to go through a metal detector after a violent attack just days before on THEM.

I'm sure students nationwide send their thoughts & prayers.

They have to maintain both a residence in their home state and either sleep in their office or maintain a residence in DC.

Yeah. Nobody should be able to have a gun to defend THEMSELVES .

And public school students arent allowed to either think or pray.

Yes. It's a major problem. You can't afford to be a congress member unless you're already rich.

$170k a year is not enough to maintain two residences if one of them is in the DC metro. I have a friend who lives in DC and makes $130k and lives in a one-bedroom apartment because that's all he can afford. He doesn't even have a family to support.

I'm a professor at a 2nd tier school (some would call it 3rd tier). A few years ago I calculated that I would have to tell my wife to cut our spending by 25% if I became a congressman.

On top of that, you have to spend 6-9 months working without pay (i.e. campaigning) to even have a chance at getting elected.

Pretty much none of them only make $170k a year. Most of them have net worths in the millions.

If you are on one income, quit their previous job to go to congress, have kids, not cleaning up on graft and are paying mortgage on a $300k+ house back home, probably not or at the very least it is tight and not worth it considering the size and security of the offices and the long and numerous vacations. Not sure how one defines "lots of congressmen"... but there are probably a few honest ones.

This. They just take bribes, er, donations from corporations and foreign governments. AOC still can't figure out how a garbage disposal works, yet she immediately found ways to purchase some pretty expensive business attire.

Oh, the outrage!!! Oh, the hyperbole!!! Not a single one of them were violently attacked and had any fear of their lives. Now, you want to talk about violent attacks? Talk to Rand Paul and Steve Scalise about the tolerant left and their violent attacks. Ask Josh Hawley how he felt about Anqueefa showing up at his DC residence and banging on the door, screaming outside, and vandalizing the property while he was out of town. I'm sure he loved the little "drop in visit" that terrified his wife with their young child.

Based on the pictures they are amateurs compared to what BLM and Antifa did over the past year.

The comparisons they're trying to make are so asinine. The web is full of video like the last two you showed.
