Mason is a textbook example of what NOT to do if you go to the Final Four. They didn't put any money into the program to keep the momentum going.

True. But they did use that burst of fame to increase the quality of their applicants and boosted their academic reputation tremendously. Its amazing how sports can do that. I have several friends who's kids have applied to (and likely will go to) Mason, and two friends who have kids going to Coastal (at out of state costs). None of them even applied to ODU. But you are correct in that GMU wasted their F4 opportunity to boost their hoops (well it did get them in the A10), whereas VCpew has capitalized on it big time.

GMU also has a Law School. This helps.

I recall that after their FF run, applications to Mason quadrupled.

Law School Enrollments are WAY down and law schools are a financial drain on their host institutions. I doubt the GMU Law School provides much prestige.

It is extremely important for the DC economy to have a steady pipeline of mediocre lawyers.

There are no shortage of law schools in the DMV too.

This is FYI as the conference tournament will be split between VCU and Richmond this year, moved to DC and then back to Barclays. The top 4 teams get double byes. My personal feeling is that LaSalle is in dire straits and there are vetting conversation. Speculation on my part. Simple ODU replacement for LaSalle.
