Underdog Dynasty: Conference USA hit rock bottom in 2020

A long and pretty detailed look at CUSA's slide to the bottom. I think the only school not mentioned is UAB.

According to spending habits and funding incomes, which C-USA teams have the greatest potential upside for future development of their football programs? Which ones already have good facilities and just need better staffs or players?

I think Underdog Dynasty has hit rock bottom. This article doesn’t mention UAB there Podcast talks about UCF more than UAB. John Duncan needs to write an article at least he’d mention UAB [/quote]

The ACC just finished 0-6 in bowls games, to match C-USA. The AAC only went 1-5.

I thought it was a good article, pretty spot on in a lot of ways.
I figured they didn’t mention UAB bc we’re an exception to that narrative.

Could they have mentioned that UAB has been doing it better? Sure
I’m perfectly fine NOT being mentioned in an article that’s all about terrible decisions and a lack of progress

If you want a benign purpose for the article. It could be to contrast the bad choices for the "New" teams versus the other "New" teams that could have been chosen after AAC teams left. THUS no UAB or So Miss mentions etc.

Southern Miss gets a mention (like LD says, not a positive one):

Quote:It’s not just the newcomers that have been afflicted by poor decision making at the head coaching position.

Southern Miss punted on their last coaching search and hired a local product that they felt wasn’t a threat to leave for a bigger program. The results for Jay Hopson matched the level of interest from Power 5 programs as the Golden Eagles finished third or worse in C-USA West in all but one season under Hopson.

Not sure why we didn't rate a mention in the paragraph on improving facilities in the last section. Other than leaving out UAB, I think the article is pretty accurate.

I think there are some good nuggets in there. And I think they do mention us, not in a good way, and I think that makes some people here uncomfortable.

"...but more than anything else, each member of the conference needs to buy in to a clear and consistent vision for C-USA. That life raft from the AAC isn’t coming anytime soon..." "Many members of this conference seem to want to bypass the process of building a winning program to get into a higher-profile conference and think that will somehow miraculously solve all of their problems." Yeah, that's us.

This is what some of us have been saying. There's this pipe dream around here that sooner or later, we'll snap our finger like Thanos and be in the AAC. But that just isn't realistic. The TV money numbers are just staggering.
