JUST IN: 'Super Size Me' filmmaker Morgan Spurlock has died at the age of 53 from complications of cancer.

Spurlock released a documentary in 2004 where he ate McDonalds every day for 30 days.

At the end of the experiment, Spurlock's cholesterol shot up 65 points and he gained a whopping 24.5 pounds.

Spurlock "passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends on May 23, 2024, in New York from complications of cancer," his family announced.

"It was a sad day, as we said goodbye to my brother Morgan. Morgan gave so much through his art, ideas, and generosity. The world has lost a true creative genius and a special man. I am so proud to have worked together with him," his brother Craig said.

It's sad to lose anyone following in Ralph Nader's footsteps. Love the folks who show the public how they are being harmed or hoodwinked!

no bout adout it ... 'SuperSize Me' should be mandatory viewing in grades 1 thru 12 on the first and final day of class each year until graduation...

he was one of common-sense valued foot soldiers...

I found the premise superficial and misleading.

People gain weight without eating at McDonalds or other fast food establishments and it is possible to lose weight by eating items off a McDonald's menu.

IMO, a greater contributor to obesity in America than super sized meals is the "fat is beautiful" campaign (the singer Lizzo is a prime example) which affirms unhealthy eating habits and lack of exercise.

I wasn't/wouldn't/nor would ever argue against such ... volume is always an issue vs. relativity unless one has a tape worm (like my arse had until I ran into "dayum, that woman can cook!" ... 03-wink

excercise is easily the most overlooked of 'em all in the 'burn' category ... calories in vs. cals out .... for most, it's that simple...

ref: alcohol, nicotine, or any other addictive agent ... most don't have the mental capacity (I can attest as a former smoker - buh bye ciggy butts again - almost 5 mos. now) ... #KMA

you glossed over why 'mandatory in grades 1-12 ... that's how/why ya just go phat and say, 'fk it'....

that's the residual impact of spoiling the chillins vs the pets ... only spoil the pets (unless they bite back ... then ya Noem that 4-legged 'beast') ... 03-lmfao 03-lmfao 03-lmfao

Technology and high fructose corn syrup are the top causes of obesity. Sitting upon one's ass in front of a screen whether in your palm or at the end of a room has made the children of this country fat and stupid. The high fructose corn syrup bypasses the brains alarm of too much sugar and diabetes is on the way. That makes soft drink companies wealthy and big pharma super wealthy.

Face it, kids don't get up in the morning slam through chores to get out of doors and rush down the street to get a pick-up game of basketball, football, or sandlot baseball, and they don't ride bikes to get there. They've become slugs because of personal cell phones, and computers. Their eyes stay engaged and their minds focused upon what the corporate sponsors want them to see, or the frigging Chinese, or the damn political propagandists, and while you pick on, and rightfully so, the fat is beautiful campaign, you can toss in the hate your race campaigns, the sexual orientation campaigns, and begin to see it is all part of the 5 billion less people campaign. If somebody came up to your child on the street, offered them unhealthy food, told them fat was beautiful, that who they were due their genetics or natural orientation was bad, told them to be lazy, not to think for themselves, and that substandard education was a necessity to prevent superiority, wouldn't you kick that persons ass and tell your kid the truth? Then why in the hell do we tolerate it from TV, the computer, and public education??? Our kids are afraid of not fitting in with group think, of being berated by some hack propagandist pretending to be an educator, and the reason they are vulnerable to this crap is because parents allow them to be isolated and alone with electronic devices at home instead of engaged in work for the family or play with the kids down the street. They believe what they are told on the screen because they have no real life experiences that say otherwise.

If you engage and hone the body, you engage and hone the mind through socialization while doing it.

What is the essence of team sports? "If you work together with people you learn to trust because you know their capabilities you can overcome anything which threatens your goals and objectives." "You also learn to respect the hard work and determination of others and to respect yourself in the process."

We don't need war with the Ukraine. We need a focused determination to eradicate those destroying our children!

Makes you wonder for sure! Arrhythmia? My wife read me a report of a 28 year old professional football player who had clots removed from his lungs which were inexplicable, and will retire from the game. COVID vaccines? The number of young people dying from diseases heretofore not seen in their age groups has risen significantly.

I remember quite plainly Walton's destruction of Memphis during the 1973 NCAA Championship. I also remember Larry Finch's sportsmanship. Now they are both gone. :(

An absolute great ball player and solid man. Say Hey, made my childhood richer! And those Giant teams were fun to watch! He's with Hank now. Both progeny of Alabama!

Mine too and you never forget your first love, do you? As an adult I got to spend a couple of hours in a waiting room with Hammering Hank. His wife Billye was having a treatment. We didn't talk ball. We talked about the treatments and the two women having them. It was real, and I got to see the good man he was, and not just a baseball legend.

I would have loved to meet Mays, but random occurrences which permit such things in life are too rare. I'm grateful for the one I had, just wish the circumstances had been different, but seeing the real man was the memory I didn't expect and priceless in spite of the circumstances.

Even with all his accomplishments Mays is still one of the most underrated players of all time. Had it not been for his military service he may well have broken Babe Ruths HR record before Aaron did.

At the very least he likely hits 700 HRs.

I don't see how he is not the greatest all around player of all time. I still think Ted Williams was a better hitter but Mays was the most complete player ever.
