Some HS Highlights Of Miss Venessa

Is she eligible for this year?

Proof is in the pudding on that one. Playing time was very limited and would only be less next season. Enjoyed watching her when she was in though.

Sorry to hear that. Really pulled for her when she was on the court. But, if she wants to play more, then another school might be best. Hope she stays through the tournament...bench is short enough already.

Hannah Sadler just posted on Twitter that it is Georgia State that she is transferring to.

Saw this post in Coach Nikki's twitter account about their home visit in the recruitment of Ms Aaliyah Pitts:

Aaliyah is standing next to Coach Nikki in the picture, just in case you need help identifying her.

FWIW, I saw Aaliyah Pitts and her Woodbridge HS Vikings play and beat T. C. Williams HS at Robinson High School before going down to Richmond to win the State title for Gp 6A. I'd love to see her become part of this great group of winners Coach Nikki is assembling here at ODU. Trust me, Aaliyah will be an excellent addition to this group of outstanding young ladies we already have. Can't wait to see what she decides to do. Monarch Nation wants you, Aaliyah!

Coach Nikki just announced on Twitter that we have added another cub to the family. No idea who it is, maybe its Aaliyah Pitts..

Really excited about the new players coming in for next year. They fill holes that were needs in last year’s squad. Season starts in about 6 months. Can’t wait.

Saw this 2017 U-16 Germany vs Netherlands game video where Marie Reichert, our new commitment, featured. She's wearing number 13 jersey, and hopeful expectations are she has dramatically improved from this experience, but to an untrained eye such as mine, and going by this video and this video only, wasn't sure what to think...

Watched some of the video...and agree that it’s hard to tell what to think. I saw a game that was fluid and a team that was well coached. Will her game translate well to Coach Nikki’s style? Hope so. Thanks for posting video.

RE: Women's Basketball Recruiting - jumpshooter - 05-06-2019 01:31 PM

If I read that correctly, you watched a 2-year-old video of a kid under 16? (Isn't that what U 16 means?) Of course she has improved since then, if for no other reason than she's 2 years older and more mature physically.

RE: Women's Basketball Recruiting - odufansam - 05-06-2019 02:17 PM

Watched quite a bit of the video. Both teams were well coached. Playing a higher level of basketball than you see in high schools in the US. Athletically, not so much. Positives: decisive decision maker, active feet on defense, long arms, hustles on both ends of the court and handles the ball if needed.

ODU needed more depth in the post. She will have to adjust to college level athletes. Very different style than Mairi Buchan, but could have a similar level of impact IMO.

RE: Women's Basketball Recruiting - ODU DAD - 05-06-2019 02:32 PM

This should say something about her developmental progress in the last couple of years....

Quote:Reichert has been invited to play with the 18U German National Team in a tournament in Macedonia, as well as the 19U National Team for the World Championship Games in Thailand.

RE: Women's Basketball Recruiting - eastcoastDave - 05-06-2019 05:09 PM

Good to see that ODU is bring in an international player. Some of the past great ODU players have been from overseas. A couple of teams ODU played this year had international players on their team. If nothing else, this signing could open up a forgotten recruiting avenue. Now if someone could find that 6-5 post ....

This has got to make recruiting easier;
