I don't think the crowd [no crowd] factored in this one...

They aren't. Freemantle is only solid interior player and all of the perimeter guys sans Scrugg have major deficiencies that will really be exposed against high major athleticism. They look like a NIT team to me.

I tend to agree...Toledo looks like a mid-MAC team, so struggling with them may be either an indication of how much they rely on their home crowd OR how average Xavier is.

End of the OU-Illinois game was nuts...if you didn't catch it live, try to find the highlights.

WTF is it with teams playing NAIA games?

FWIW, AAC is 7-1 thus far. Not too shabby.

There are way too many Division I basketball programs for Pac-12 teams to be playing regular season games against NAIA. It's probably about the equivalent of FBS vs. Division II football.

UC should start scheduling UC Clermont.

Cronin discussion in the smack thread...but...

UCLA 88
Pepperdine 89

22 seconds left in 2OT

RE: 2020-2021 College Basketball Season Thread - BearcatMan - 11-27-2020 05:51 PM

UCLA's best player just missed two consecutive front ends, got his own offensive rebounding between, the hit the second on his second set of free throws...went 1/4 from the line down 1 point with 7 seconds left. Thats a major ouch.

Bruins into TRIPLE OT with Pepperdine. Also, some of the most appalling officiating I've ever seen.

RE: 2020-2021 College Basketball Season Thread - BearcatMan - 11-27-2020 05:52 PM

Luka Garza is currently 11/11, 2/2, and 10/12 in the first half against Southern...he's my early favorite for the Naismith.

RE: 2020-2021 College Basketball Season Thread - BearcatMan - 11-27-2020 05:57 PM

UCLA is pulling away now...Pepperdine down to walk-ons as 4 of their players have fouled out.

Was hoping Bryant would beat Syracuse.

Penny Hardaway is such a laughably terrible game coach it makes you wonder how long they will tolerate another season like the last couple.

It's impressive...he is making Number Play Cards Josh Pastner look like John Wooden.

They are worth watching only to see how utterly uncoached they are. It’s middlin’ AAU Saturday tournament seed play ball with some tall guy wearing a $1000 pair of shoes rolling the ball out.

No motion off of the ball. No cuts. Just hero ball.

It’s pound the ball and play one on one every time down court if it’s not a 3pt attempt. They are going to be so easy to defend.

Is fancy boy still wearing his short shorts on Memphis? I haven't seen them play yet.

Memphis should play shirts and skins. Looks like playground basketball. The chuck it up or ISO one on 5 offense.

It’s worse than normal because Penny lost the only assistant that knew how to coach in Mike Miller...Penny replaced him with a buddy who was a shady local high school coach who apparently had a history of pimping out players and sending out dick pix on school computers. Well done Memphis.

Search Jermaine Johnson. Hiring this goon tells you all you need to know about Penny.

Oh yes...and he's shooting exactly like you'd expect someone with a foot and a half of fabric in his ass crack would to start the season.
