If Cincy is still outside the CFP top 4 I don't exactly see how it hurts them, even if they were to lose. It's not like BYU belongs to a conference and can steal the access bowl slot, and I don't think a loss to an undefeated top 10 team would drop Cincy behind Marshall or Coastal or whomever winds up in the running

If you don't play and win your conference you get the NY6. If you lose and still win the conference, you probably get knocked out of the NY6. If you beat BYU, what do you get....the NY6?

But if that top 4 is set do you really think a UC win over BYU would matter. (It wouldn’t)

Yes both teams should be willing to schedule each other if for no other reason then to avoid the inevitable BYU/Cincy NY6 matchup that would occur otherwise.

Either play them in the regular season and give yourself a shot at making the playoffs or play them in a NY6 bowl. What would you rather have?

So basically admit that winning the the AAC is not worthy of the P5/playoff?

No.

This won't matter as much as we think. On Tuesday BYU will be ranked where they belong, upper teens. They got this far mostly through momentum, their schedule will hurt them, same for Coastal both will give up some ground.

Even if BYU stays up there is little reward for Cincy. Beating BYU won't be enough. BYU would love it though. If BYU wants they can come join, otherwise no reason to help them in anyway.

Now SMU or Memphis should take it, little risk already ranked behind and a decent reward in it with a win.

I agree it likely wouldn't. But if the game is played before the final rankings are released it at the very least generates public discussion about how Cincy should be there, which could benefit you in the future

Fair point, I forgot how weak their schedule is. Would love to see either Memphis, SMU or even UCF schedule them if they still can. I want more ranked teams lol

I think Memphis would beat on them. SMU would be a shoot out and not sure BYU wants any part of UCF. SMU or UCF might be able to work it out with them I think both have open weeks.

Its not about admitting anything other than that the committee has inherent bias and UC may be forced to prove themselves further in order to get a shot. Even if BYU drops a few spots in CFP poll it would still be a #5-6 vs #9-10 matchup depending on how the P5 shakes out. If UC rolls BYU, it might be enough to slip into that #4 spot or at least shine a bright light on the fundamental unfairness of a corrupt system.

You think the committee will care about us beating another non member of the club? 03-lmfao

Where is BYU getting this magical spot from? They don't have a tie in so they will need to be top 10 at least to maybe get a chance, even then anything but the Fiesta will be a long shot. The SEC has three spots locked up at the moment. G5 gets one. PAC, Big 12 and Big 10 each will be sending at least one as will the ACC although two seem locked in and three is possible.
