Wichita State definitely made the right decision. Kudos to them for taking strong action. Hopefully, Marshall will get some professional or spiritual help so he can get his life back on track. No one wants to see him become the next Rick Pitino or Larry Brown.

Unfortunately, this whole affair has already had a very adverse impact on the Shockers program, but with their ability to pay top-dollar to replenish their coaching staff, they might be able to reboot their program before too long. If they don't hire a new high-end Head Coach, another option would be to hire an outstanding former HC with great X/O and player development skills to become Miller's top assistant.

It's a good thing for the conference that the Marshall affair won't be an ongoing distraction, and if it ever had to happen, at least it took place heading into an abbreviated "asterisk season."

If there was ever a time to set the wheels into motion to replace Connecticut's BB program, this would be it, given that the experts are predicting only two AAC teams in the next NCAA tournament, and that neither Wichita State nor Temple are likely to have top-tier programs for at least another year or two.

BYU All Sports. Memphis moves to the Eastern Division to kindle the Memphis - Cinn rivalries for all sports. Navy stays in the FB Western Division with Tulane, SMU, and Tulsa. Perfect time to hire Hall-of-Fame coach Tubby Smith.

Go get him before its too late, Shockers!

RE: gregg marshall fired - ECUGrad07 - 11-11-2020 09:53 AM

Would Bobby Knight last 5 years if he started his career over now?

All he needs is time to build a program into a winner.

WSU's next coaching hire is going to be really important. Let's just hope we don't regret adding them 4 years from now.

You'd think they'd be able to land a big name coach.

Goodbye triple G... Hello Rick Pitino?

Feel really bad for Alterique. Dude just can't catch a break. I thought Marshall was one of the main reasons Hurley recommended Wichita State to him in the first place.

Good luck in your coaching search Shockers fans. I'm sure you guys will find a good replacement but uncertainty around your program always blows.

Any guesses as to where Marshall ends up and how long it takes for him to find another gig? Would personally love to see him take this year off, then take over a team in the America East and challenge UVM for conference supremacy each year.

I think Pitino has served his redemption exile and would make a great hire, but Wichita needs an interim first to buffer controversies. Are there any strip clubs in Witchita?

I wouldn't think that at all.

well...Mrs Tubby said Tubby took the Texas Tech money for them and the Memphis money for their grandkids so maybe the Wichita St money could be for the great-grandkids. #generational_wealth

He'd probably take becoming the next Larry Brown. After all, Brown is the only head coach to win a national championship and NBA championship.
