Are you kidding me? We have beat APP 3-4 times and should have won the game this year.

Clowns

The bowl games, if they happen, will be fun, but it’s about peers to me.

Sun belt Championship game > FCS national championship and you cant convince me otherwise

With the Sunbelt being arguable the top 2 G5 conference theres a high likelihood that the sun belt champion gets the NY6 bowl game which would be the biggest game by far in JMU history

Lets also remember that the playoffs will be expanding in a few years

No more Richmond games here!

Just kidding, that’s Salem High School’s stadium. Seats 1,000 less than RU’s.

Going in I care very, very little about the bowls and it's basically all about the regular season and the conference championship to me. It'll be interesting to see how we feel about it in 10 years having actually experienced the bowls for ourselves.

Over on the Sun Belt board there have been a few times that some good discussion came up on the bowls and I was a little surprised how unanimous it was that the bowls stay fun and exciting throughout for several reasons. One big thing they talked about is how they're kind of a party and a good celebration of the team each year. Even for schools like App State who you would think should be disappointed with the quality of bowls they get for the quality of their teams. Of course you could say there's some amount of bias for liking where they are, but if it was just that you'd think there'd be at least one or two still looking at bowls the way we do.

You sir are the biggest buffoon in America. That’s a quote from the article that (clears throat) you posted (clears throat). Are you offended by that? Dodgamn… you’re the worst!!!!

No more games AT Norfolk State. No games at Maine. No games at Richmond. I LOVE the sound of that. No more playing against teams that have "State Champion" rings made because they beat us. No more Flosports. Get us the hell out of here. Get us a waiver to play an FBS Indy schedule next year even if we're flying to Oregon and California. Everyone who thinks that anything in FCS will even compare to playing in what will become of the Sunbelt in 2023 knows NOTHING about college football and the landscape.

The bowls are fun. I think two things about them can be true at the same time.

1. No, they aren’t as good as the FCS playoffs in terms of what they actually mean

2. They are way more fun. It’s an entire long weekend of fanfare dedicated to one game and your school and whoever you are playing. I was in the stands for TONS of FCS playoff games and I also attended our first ever bowl game in tropical Montgomery Alabama. Even there against Ohio, it was buzzing excitement. I’ve yet to get to New Orleans for that bowl but apparently it’s great.

And buckle up because come 2023 I suspect our bowl prospects improve 10-fold.

I’m as shocked as you are by this news! Shocked! Who possibly saw this coming?

LOL, sounds like someone left behind is bitter, CBS sports also, since ESPN wins and CUSA is a train wreck.

I get why using unnamed sources is necessary, but that's just someone who's extremely salty and doesn't want their name connected with it because if they went on the record their school would go for years not getting scheduled by most, if not all, of the SBC teams.

RE: Newest Conference Rumor/Discussion 2.0 - jmufan2008 - 10-29-2021 12:38 PM

Does a non-NY bowl mean as much as an FCS NC as far as accomplishments? No. But I would say they're comparable in party and have the potential to be way bigger because most fanbases are now going to be as large or bigger than JMU...unlike playing YSU in the NC. I also agree that the new SB won't be relegated to the toilet bowl, but will have legitimate opportunities in larger bowls in the future. It was also awkward scheduling wise for the non-NC playoff games because there's a week turnaround...some people were waiting for the 'next' playoff game...etc. I used to think it was dumb to just have one final bowl game instead of playoffs, but now that I have a family it's harder to make it to 3 straight weeks of playoff games and then even consider a Frisco trip. It would be much easier to get away for a single long weekend.

Both The Athletic and Thamel are reporting that Marshall is joining the SBC. Like I have been saying.

Marshall Athletics just posted on Facebook that we are officially joining the SBC

That "I will prefer the playoffs always" stuff will go out of the window before the first full season is even over. Many sound just like the Georgia Southern, App, ODU, etc folks that said the same exact thing until bowl season came.

So who else would go?

The only way MU stays in CUSA is if no one else leaves. Uconn and Liberty join CUSA.

Would someone in the MAC go the SB? Probably not, they are tight-knit group.

AAC? Defiantly not.

So JMU stays in the CAA? Ding-Ding Winner!
