You're not alone, Maryland still feels like an ACC team to me. They're probably the school I have the hardest time picturing in their current conference. A&M in the SEC, Nebraska in the B10, Colorado in the Pac-12, no sweat. But Maryland seems like they should be playing Virginia and UNC every year.

I never have been able to find all the gory details published anywhere. But by November 2012, Maryland athletics was essentially bankrupt or close to it. If the B1G hadn’t been willing to expand, the Terps would’ve been up the proverbial creek without the proverbial paddle.

That's what I've heard too. They probably made the right move for the circumstances. Maybe I'm just old, but I miss the old-line ACC that was contained neatly between D.C. and Atlanta. Maryland was as integral to the spirit and soul of the ACC as Duke and Carolina and UVA. Lefty cast as impressive a shadow as Dean and K and Jimmy V. I suppose life goes on though.

FAU loses a 68-66 heartbreaker to USA; South Al dude hits a step-back 3 with an Owls defender deep in his face with 1.1 seconds left to win.

The Toppers beat a UNI team that shot 51% from three land and made 20 of them. That’s got to be very rare. Normally when a team shoots like that from the perimeter you have very little chance. Great effort by WKU.

Or maybe not good defense? I didn’t watch the game and saying nothing about my team since we haven’t played yet but...something is amiss

I would guess 40% of those hit 3s came from 25+ but Western usually gives up open looks. But most teams will not make 20 threes during a game on wide open looks

Here's 9 of them at least 3 ft behind the line so at least 25 ft shots...

It seems you completely missed the point. Whether it was bad defense, just great shooting, or a combination of the two, the point was winning a game under those circumstances is extremely rare. It takes great effort to overcome a team that scored 60 points from behind the three point line.

HeyZeus on a unicycle. Both of you realize this is the ODU mating call no? You’ll have them arguing about the lack of fouls called in the game last year again.

I count every Western game a loss until the final buzzer blows. But that’s just me from being Western’d too many times. I’ll definitely take the two wins but it means nothing right now.
