New Rice Gear from Homefield Apparel - baker-'13 - 10-19-2020 12:43 PM

Per their Twitter, Homefield Apparel is launching Rice gear this weekend.

For reference, Homefield is built on making premium-quality collegiate vintage apparel. You can see some examples of their recent launches (last week was Louisville) on their website.

Given their past work, I would expect to see some T-shirts with Charles Straub's artwork on them, at least.

Thanks for posting this. I always like to find new sources for my aging rice gear (for my aging rice body)

It does make me feel a bit bad though that Vermont, Wabash, Drake, IUPUI, Hope College, Homefield, Grand Valley State, Colo School of Mines and other athletic powerhouses made it before we did.

Looking at this another way... we beat Alabama. Again.

I think semi-excited for this. I mean, I'd rather see some wins, but love throw-back Rice stuff.

This is great news, because now I can unsubscribe from their email list that I've been on for months, hoping to see us added to the inventory. Then I'll sign my kids up, so they know what to get me for Christmas. ;-)

Tulane going with a retro-look this weekend, a la this t-shirt.

I hope that we continue to see Rice (and other universities) embrace this branding. The pelican riding the Green Wave is glorious.

Cool site. Just curious, what was with college mascots wearing sailor hats in the 50’s?

A lot of schools, Rice included, built relatively large Navy ROTC programs during WWII. Even when those programs wound down, the schools kept using the imagery for a while.

They probably didn't get the OK from Rice, which is why none of their merchandise for Syracuse says "Orangemen", for instance.
