This is only a part of a much larger review of the D-I model by the Knight Commission. In fact Part 3 of 4, but the media seemingly has ignored Parts 1 & 2. I'm not sure how valid this survey is of the thinking across D-I. It may be dead on, but there is no detailing of the number of respondents to the survey or the distribution of respondents across the varies sub-groups they refer to. To me this is an indication of a smaller response across D-I than they hoped for.

To say 74% of FBS respondents were in favor of something sounds decisive and it is IF a high percentage of the 130 schools responded. But if only 30 responded, 74% really isn't significant. This may be further compounded if multiple respondents come from the same school(s) potentially skewing the results even more.

So, why weren't the metrics of the respondent pool detailed as they are with legitimate surveys?

Below are the only details provided by the Commission:
Quote:Survey respondents included Division I officials responsible for the governance of intercollegiate athletics: college presidents, conference commissioners, athletics directors, college athlete leaders, and institutionally-designated faculty athletics representatives and senior woman administrators.
