Question for those in the know.... - mapdude - 10-04-2020 02:42 PM

Watching the Game Saturday and I see that after those two long pass plays that resulted in TD's for SMU, the receiver went to the sideline and was calling for oxygen. I saw them sucking it up from a mask as they recovered on the sidelines.

Then I read in the CA today that the our defense was talking about being gassed in the late stages of the game, most likely from conditioning since they had such a long layoff between games.

So are we current with the latest trends in football and have oxygen on the sidelines for the players?

I played high school in the 70's and we had oxygen at the game.

I saw other teams on Saturday using it.

Latest trends? Deangelo used to get oxygen on the sidelines, that was 15 years ago now.

I would feel embarrassed for any college program that does not have oxygen on the sidelines.

That's just your sensitive side talking.

Here’s a trend: Play done defense.

Never saw such a thing in the 60's

I find it hard to believe a rag like the CA has any true info

Didn't even have it in the late 50's or 60's. We built up our oxygen requirements by running the "HILL" over and over and over at practice at CBC.

I didn't see any oxygen at my high school games in the early 90s... And believe me, I spent a lot of time on the sidelines. :-)

Lol same here...

Apparently I went to a poor HS

Air is 21% oxygen. It's available on every sideline.

I didn't see that either. :-)

We were allowed two gulps from the O2 tank if we scored a touchdown from at least 50 yards out. Otherwise, suck it up and gulp a couple salt tablets.

Touche

And we have a winner.

Actually, if you want to be technical about it...Then the Tigers are full of oxygen. Because, in fact, LOVE is like oxygen.

RE: Question for those in the know.... - Tigerx3 - 10-06-2020 10:30 AM

Our coach would have said the same thing about oxygen as he did about water. It’s for the weak. Chew on these salt tablets.

Get up! Your leg better be broke if you can’t stand up.

An aspirin and an Ace bandage cured all injuries

RE: Question for those in the know.... - AlonsoWDC - 10-06-2020 10:44 AM

F all the coaches that pushed salt tablets back in the day.
