Sucks for the MAC and MWC who restarted their seasons.

Thank you for putting the apostrophe in Hawai’i.

Not surprising, but sucks from UH's standpoint.

We should keep track of which conferences are losing tie-ins:

Hawaii ...... MW, AAC

Bahamas ... CUSA, MAC

Redbox ...... PAC, B1G

Holiday ...... PAC, ACC

Fenway ...... ACC/AAC

Quik Lane ... B1G/MAC

So cancel the two best bowl trips and keep Boise and Shreveport!

In a strange year like this why wouldn't the ncaa modify the bowl approval process to allow temporary bowls to pop up and replace cancelled bowls. A one year thing. That way conferences/teams aren't screwed by the bowl cancelations.

RE: More bowl games cancelled: Hawai'i and Bahamas - f1do - 10-04-2020 05:37 PM

With several conferences playing 8 game schedules, they are probably going to have to already make exceptions to how many wins qualifies one for a bowl--other wise a 5-3 team would not be eligible. :/ I'd be loathe to see them drop the requirement to allow a sub .500 team play in a bowl game though. And if a bowl game can't put buts in the stands, one would wonder about the ability to break even let alone make any money on the game.

Temporary bowls would fill espn inventory and espn would have to provide enough $ to make it work.

NCAA already waived bowl requirements on September 24.

Local businesses have been hurt everywhere to provide any"new" bowl the needed local revenue to become a temporary site. A lot of the sponsors are restaurants and well, they are not doing gangbusters.

That's a committee recommendation but it has yet to be formally approved.

Or the bowl locations that would be least likely to allow mainlanders or Americans by mid December without multi-week quarantining once teams arrive to play. Tough enough under normal circumstances. Even more difficult with minimal or no gate to supplement the ESPN dollars.

That's a true loss. Great bowl game. I'm assuming ridonculous California restrictions? I fear for the Rose Bowl.

This costs the PAC (their second) and ACC (its first) a bowl slot.

All the good bowl game sites are canceling and all the crappy bowl game sites will still be played.

Bowls are no fun without games like this.

Add in Fenway Bowl (ACC vs AAC) cancelled. McMurphy hints that Myrtle Beach & Los Angeles Bowls may be next.

Thankfully, Florida is not run by the same kind of governor.

So as of now, the ACC, AAC and PAC are all down two bowls.

The old San Diego stadium is being torn down in stages. SDSU is playing its home football games this year and next in Carson.

As the article says, if they play the bowl game next year, it might be at Petco Park, the Padres' downtown ballpark.
