Not sure what you meant by that, but I kinda fit in that category.

I attended JMU with my high school sweetheart and we married a year out of JMU. That practice marriage did not last long, but afterwards I found someone I've been very happily married to the last 28 years.

RE: Fun Poll Question - Bill - 10-02-2020 12:28 PM

I didn't go to JMU but I married the girl I met when I was in college...and she married the guy she met when she was in high school! Man, I took a lot of crap from my hockey mates about that.

RE: Fun Poll Question - Rock House Duke - 10-02-2020 01:35 PM

My wife and I met at JMU. We each lived in off campus houses located off Mason Street, near the old RMH. It was May and she was playing ladder ball in the front yard. I had never seen the yard game before so I walked up to her, introduced myself, and asked her what game she was playing and if I could join her. Twelve months later we were married. We now have two future Dukes and a third one on the way.

Heck no, she dumped me long before graduation.

RE: Fun Poll Question - Dukester - 10-02-2020 02:04 PM

Interesting - based on this highly scientific poll it looks like about 50% of JMU alum leave having found their spouse.

04-cheers

My wife and I met at JMU.

While I did hang with several different babes who were Dukes, my primary squeeze was over the mountain at UVA. Didn't marry her or any Duke. Found a gal who graduated from Lynchburg College. Being five years younger, we would have missed each other had she chosen JMU. She did goof though, she was accepted to JMU but chose to stay in the Lynchburg area (her home).

Married the gal I met as an undergrad at W&M, after one year in Harrisonburg working and going to JMU MBA classes at night. We both wound up getting our MBA's at JMU. Married 33 years and counting. 40th anniversary of her biggest mistake (our first date) is next September.

RE: Fun Poll Question - JMUNation - 10-04-2020 07:43 AM

My first wife I met the summer before my freshman year. #2 is not a JMU grad either but roots along with me at games. We have had 21 very good years of marriage.

I have lots of friends with wives they met at JMU. I always thought that was cool. Given the selection available, choosing just one must have been hard. JMU has never been a bad place for those that chose to play the field. The female to male ratio has its perks too.

I think I was still half asleep when I read the question and totally wiffed with my response! My bad. (My HS sweetheart that was a year behind me came to JMU my sophomore year but we broke up later that year) Did not end up marrying a JMU gal.

My high school sweetheart and I both went to Madison College. Got married just before the start of our senior year. It lasted 18 years and we had 3 beautiful children. Things tend to work out and I am married to the most wonderful person in the world. She is a San Diego girl but embraces my craziness of all things JMU. I am beyond blessed.

RE: Fun Poll Question - Dukester - 10-05-2020 09:57 AM

So about 50% of those that walk away from JMU will do so with their current or eventual spouse.

Interesting....

Yes you are. You have some wonderful grandchildren as well.

Married a JMU lady, but didn't meet as students. We met years later doing alumni activities. If you fancy a JMU spouse, there is hope after graduation!
