The NCAA will (hopefully) finalize the parameters for the 2020-21 college basketball season tomorrow. Here is the current thinking of how it will go. Some or all of this will surely change as it is debated.

• Season start date - November 21 (or 11/23 or 11/25)

• Minimum number of games played to be considered for the NCAA Tournament - 13 (currently 25) . For schools choosing to play the minimum, all 13 games must be against Division I competition.

• Maximum number of games allowed - 26 (currently 31); 28 if playing in a Multi-Team Event (tournament). Another report set the proposed maximum at 24 or 25 games.

• Schools must play a minimum of 4 non-conference games.

• Conferences will be given flexibility to name their regular season champion as the recipient of their automatic bid. Freeing conferences from the expense of staging a conference tournament, if desired.

• The NCAA Tournament structure and timeline will remain the same - 68 teams, 14 sites beginning in Mid-March.

• Testing will be required 3x a week.

Is UAB still planning a preseason tournament at Bartow?

All I know at this point is our schedule is complete and we are waiting on tomorrow's decisions to see how it will need to be adjusted.

I was really hoping the all inclusive tournament would gain some traction. It would be a lot of fun to see truly regional brackets leading up to a final 8 or so in one central location.

The decision is in:

College basketball season starts November 25th (day before Thanksgiving). Practice can begin October 14th.

No scrimmages or exhibitions with other teams allowed.

Recruiting dead period in all sports extended until January 1, 2021.

More details to come with the official announcement.

So about a 2.5 week delay which probably means we'll lose a handful of home games.

Teams should play a minimum of 4 non-conference games.

Men's teams must play a minimum of 13 games and a maximum of:
*24 RS games & a 3 game MTE
*25 RS games & a 2 game MTE
*25 RS games & NO MTE.

Women's teams must play a minimum of 13 games and a maximum of 25 games (or 23 and 1 Multi-team event)
