Rod Carey believes Temple's Conference Schedule in Jeopardy - knightz03 - 08-28-2020 03:30 PM

Temple HC Rod Carey says that if the City of Philadelphia doesn't allow the Owls to begin full practices, they'll need to cancel or postpone start of season.

Also points out that this is why they've not been able to add any new non-conference games.

Carey says Temple's season opener at Navy is in jeopardy - OwlsDaily

I just don’t see how the AAC plays football this year. Too many problems to have a season.

Sent from the warp via the ruinous powers of chaos.

Wow. Crazy to hear that you guys haven't been able to scrimmage yet. We've had two.

We're paused right now.....but we've had two. 03-banghead

Also crazy that the Eagles can do whatever they want, and you guys are being held to some BS extra restrictions.

How does the Phillies play if they can't practice?

There are way less of them, for one. Two, they are probably on the Eagles' plan.

Good point. How does that make sense?

It does seem that the pro sports teams are getting a separate, better deal.

RE: Rod Carey believes Temple's Conference Schedule in Jeopardy - pesik - 08-28-2020 04:26 PM

the city has absolutely no way to enforce the 50 people limit, especially for a sporting practice

eagles have already been practicing..should have just had the full practices and asked questions later
numerous other cities like Cincinnati have similar limitations ...just practice and wait for them to tell you its not okaay

It's Philadelphia, a political dumpster fire... Don't think Pennsylvania as whole is too thrilled to see Temple play while Penn State sits at home.

Purely politics.

For the same reason that I can see Amy get a push back in NY, but Army is in a position to tell Cuomo to go and FU@K himself.

Federal property, so yes indeed, they can tell him to **** off back to where he came from.

We should play our game in Delaware and hold all our practices there as well.

It's like a story I read years ago. A man was in traffic court and asked the judge why he was the only one pulled over when he was in a group of cars all traveling at the same speed. The cop said "I turned on my light and you were the only one who pulled over."

Temple just HAD to pick Philadelphia. Way to go.

Thanks. I think I read it in Reader's Digest. For some of our younger members, that's a small booklike magazine printed on actual paper delivered to a physical mailbox.

RE: Rod Carey believes Temple's Conference Schedule in Jeopardy - CliftonAve - 08-29-2020 12:29 PM

I had a feeling Temple was going to be the problem.

As for Cincinnati, UC holds camp at a remote facility across the border in Indiana (Camp Higher Ground). They’ve been doing it for over 20 years. The players have basically been in a bubble, nobody is allowed in or out. It’s been a great asset for us and the people that own the place are big supporters. When Brian Kelly took the ND job he tried to get the camp for the Irish but the owners stayed loyal to UC.

For now, nobody will be allowed at the Austin Peay game. The AD said he is working on trying to open it up- the Governor has limited capacity at sporting events to 15% capacity. Last night HS football kicked off across the state and the city and there were plenty in attendance.
