If I were the owner of the Vikings and the Twins, I would be in San Antonio next month. Timberwolves will stay. If I was a player and those teams stay, I would ask to be traded or released. There will be an influx of criminals on their way the next day to take advantage of the Jubilee.

How can libs be this stupid? What do they think will happen without police. They'll be screaming loudly when criminals take over their city.

Do you remember Snake Pliskin - Escape from New York?

They need to build a wall around Minneapolis and keep everyone in, that lawlessness stuff will spread from the like wildfire/

I just sent this article to my wife and daughter.

Note they don't describe what the "transformative new model for public safety" entails.

This is incredibly disturbing across several fronts.

1. The citizen will be at such an increased risk of being victimized.
2. People who perform non-policing jobs would be sent to incident.

Quote:Bender sees the city's potentially revamped public safety force as potentially sending social workers or other civilian personnel into situations that are traditionally handled by police.

3. 911 systems would face increased errors in sending the correct entity to the scene.
4. Government oversight and accountability of the new "non-policing" bodies.
5. Funding of these new "non-policing" bodies and oversight of those programs.

This is not simply a Democrat position. This is insane to any rational person. This is an anarchist policy of those committed to bringing down America from within.

Good. Look at local budgets around the country and every other line item gets slashed across the board while police spending continues to rise like crazy. I know this opinion won't be popular on here but oh well. I'm starting to change my opinion on guns, and seeing a whole lot of leftist saying the exact same things, but not to protect ourselves from criminals but from the military police.

The lengths politicians will take to excite their base and/or get votes is becoming more appalling by the day.

If this indeed happens, you best change your opinion on guns. You will need one.

This will fail.

If I was the Hennepin County Sheriff, I would deputize all if the displaced LEO's.

Sheriff's are elected officials.

Need to explore this thought more.

I sure hope you're right but they sound pretty serious about it.

Just a step on the way to Sharia?

I have very liberal family members who live in MN and they will vote no to eliminating a police force. I think this is a case of posturing politicians purporting some kind of solution and a very loud vocal minority proclaiming it to be what's needed.

Is policing/prison reform in some capacity needed? Absolutely. But eliminating the force entirely? Wtf?

RE: Minneapolis Set To Vote YES To Dismantle the Police - Crebman - 06-05-2020 10:08 AM

My guess... the elected leftists are seeing who can out virtue signal the other. I will be surprised if they actually do anything more than posture and pontificate about it.

With that said, given I don’t live anywhere close......go right ahead and eliminate the police. Be the trial run test case for “sending in the social workers” to talk the criminals into good behavior.

Locally is where to try goofy stuff, so if/when if fails miserably, only that locality bears the brunt........I’d be feeling very uneasy right now if I lived anywhere close to Minneapolis/St Paul.....

I agree. Nobody can be this stupid. It’s just a bunch of virtue signaling gone amok.

LA is talking about doing the same thing. Can you even imagine LA with no police??

Sheriff's also have budgets. Unless the county would vote to expand the reach of the Sheriff's department and the city would agree to it, he's not gonna have the money to do that.

Mergers happen though.
